Today I took on the task of a major cage cleaning of Anon and Fivels cage. As most of you know these are the boys that I am glider sitting for (about 4 months into the 7 month cruise now) while their glider parents are on a military med cruise. I really hate their cage alot. It is one of those Octagon cages and I have a really hard time cleaning it. I cannot reach the back of the cage at all and it doesn't fit outside to clean it so I have to do it in my kitchen. Today I gutted that cage to a shell, used a sponge on an arm length handle to reach the back of it to help clean it and moved the wheels from the bottom of the cage floor to the top. These are Wodent Wheels and I racked my brains trying to come up with a way to mount them up top to the side of the cage safely. The boys had gotten to the point where they stopped running in the wheels on the floor of the cage. I did a major overhaul on the set-up and wanted to show the pictures and get an honest opinion on the wheels and set-up.

I know the perches need to be replaced and I have ordered new ones to replace the purple ones you see but when I went to pick them up today they had been back-ordered.

The process of mounting the wheels up top:

I bought some of those small wire shelves that you can hang from the inside of a cage. I hung them, zip tied them to the cage bars to stabalize them then hung the stand upside down from the wire shelf and zip tied it to the shelf and the cage bars and then put the wheels on it. Basically the shelf created a fake like top of cage mounting design.

I wanted an octogon cage, but I'm glad I didn't now that I read this.
Also, I want to hang my girls' Wodent Wheel when I get their new cage and now I know how I'll do that. Thanks!!!

It is an absolutely beautiful cage, but yeah I can see how it would be difficult to clean!

Well they are liking the wheels up top. Last night they ran and ran in their wheels and marked the heck out of their new toys and clean cage. Funny babies.
