hi everyone, i have 5 gliders and 2 of the girls got out two nights ago. one of them turned up last night at about 5am, one of the dogs had her in his mouth-not biting, just kinda holding onto her. almost as if he was babysitting til someone woke up! which...with the crabbing, wasn't long.
she was restless and upset when we picked her up but quieted down instantly when we gave her a piece of pineapple.
i let her be for the rest of the night so as not to stress her out further, but this morning she wasn't with the other two girls that had stayed inside the cage, just sitting alone in the corner. she was really cold so we put her and another inside their pouch and now i have them under my shirt on my stomach to keep her warm. we also gave her some unsweetened apple juice through a syringe. trying to get her body heat and blood sugar up.

it looks like shock or torpor, i'm hoping someone has experience with shocked gliders....and how to rehabilitate them.

hopefully little ava gets better :(

(posted in health as well...just trying to get as much feedback as possible)

If you go on Glider Central they have a list of phone numbers you can call of other glider owners who can give you the best advise they know for emergencies like this. They're first advise though will prob. be go to the vet. But thats if they think its that bad. I would suggest calling one of them for some advise and theyre really good at calming you down and making you feel better too!

We have access to those people here too. Key word is "emergency". If there is an emergency, you take them to the vet, period. You should only call others for advice if you absolutely cannot get into a vet. If you don't have an emergency vet, call your regular vet and ask for a reference. If you don't have a regular vet, it's time to get one right now.
