Buyer beware! I had given my poor baby girl, Duchess, some Gliderade on Tuesday and when we came back home from work we found our Sugar Glider dead. At first we didn't know what to do, so we went and looked through her stuff, everything was fine until we came up to the water tube. When we read on them everyone suggested to use a water tube. When we bought Duchess the old owner's gave us some Gliderade and gave us the instructions, before we knew it we really had a Sugar Glider. Aside from all that, we rolled our finger to get water out and it was bone dry. We knew she had passed from dehydration. We took it out and the Gliderade had jellied pushing all her water up to the top. In loving memory of Duchess, DuchessTheGlider <3 Please post here your stories! I'd love to hear some after losing my girl.
ILoveLucy Glider MD, USA 146 Posts So sorry for your loss. ((Hugs)) I can attest to the fact of the ball getting lodged...this very thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully, I keep 3 in my colony cage as well. I too remember thinking that the extra bottles were not needed since my little ones are partial to only one bottle and rarely use the other 2. Luckily I listened to the little voice in my head (the paranoid voice actually) that told me to leave the other 2 in there...just in case. Thanks for sharing your experience...it may just save someone else's little one. Again, I'm very sorry for your loss. Rest peacefully Duchess DuchessTheGlider Starting Member 6 Posts Luckily that little voice told you to look! Duchess will be forever remembered. Lit a candle in memory of your girl. I too know of a glider that died from a malfunctioned water bottle, I use bird feeders and shallow dishes for water.
Thank you so much! I'm getting a pair possibly tomorrow, I will try a different dish for their water. DuchessTheGlider Starting Member 6 Posts Alrighty, getting ready to possibly get my pair tomorrow! Pictures and drawings of Duchess are on my fridge. DuchessTheGlider Starting Member 6 Posts I believe so. Duchess will be forever remembered. DuchessTheGlider Starting Member 6 Posts quote: Originally posted by petluv15

If she was on a good diet, there might have been something else going on that could have exacerbated it(like parasites or bacterial imbalance)...If you still have her body ad want answers, I'd get a necropsy/histopathology done...otherwise I'd assume there was a secondary cause & make sure everything of hers is completely sanitized before bringing in new gliders. So sorry for your loss.
She had dehydration, we noticed her water had jellied on Tuesday, I can't remember the day we put it in, I believe it was saturday. Yes, we still have her body.
