Hello, I just introduced my 3 year old male sugar glider to my 2 year old female sugar glider. They had been next to each other in separate cages before intro, male is neutered, and the introduction went very smoothly. They had cuddled and fallen asleep with each other quickly. However, as they started to wake up, my female sugar glider suddenly started getting angry towards the male. Sometimes when he comes up to her, she begins to crab and sometimes tries to lunge at him, but when she comes up to him, she's lovey-dovey again. I'm not sure if her behavior is something to look out for, or if it's just something that I should expect to happen since they've been recently introduced. She hasn't hurt him at all yet, but he freezes up sometimes when she comes to him.

this is a hard one. if you say "it sounds ok to leave them together" and one
gets hurt, you would be mad.

So I will say. my wife has done 6 to 8 introductions with many size groups.
almost all went well. we did one 8 glider colony added with 3 glider colony, and one female was chased into the upper cage corner at night, daytime sleeping they
were all fine in one pouch, but night time one female would stay away or be chased
by 3 others. they didnt fight, and are in LARGE cage. but after 3 nights we
removed the one female that was rejected.

this last intro was with a STRONG male alpha of 6 glider colony and the
female alpha of a 2 glider colony, they would start to fight every introduction.
the male is just to strong of the leader of the six.

In the end, if they dont fight that is a good start, lunging is NOT fighting.
if you can sleep next to cage and will wake up to check on them or of you hear to
much noise that is good. if they spend most of the night unsupervised then one
could end up hurt. Your female could just be letting the male know she is going
to be the alpha and leader. usually the leader will crawl over the other ones
and expect them to be submissive.

now that they are together, I myself would leave them together if NOT fighting,
and try to be very watchful till several nights without fighting go by.
