we switch new gliders to OHPW and fruits and veggies.
sometimes it seems they won't touch the fruits and veggies for about
2 months. then its a slow process, first corn then peas, then finally
they start eating most of it.
they usually eat some of the OHPW.
I would think it rare that an animal will starve itself to death when there
is food available. sounds like a good question for a vet.
I do know that some glider take a few tries to eat live mealworms, but once
they bite into them, they seem to be hooked, some recommend cutting the mealworm
in half so they get a taste of the creamy center.
growing up we had a fat beagle. the vet put him on canned veggies. He wouldn't
touch the stuff...for awhile. soon enough he got hungry and would eat the whole
thing down.
I would just give them the new food...but they are your gliders, maybe mix in
a little of the pedia smart stuff for awhile if your worried. Also you could
weight them so you have a baseline and can tell if they are losing weight and
are to light.
