Hello! So I just got my first trio of sugar gliders on Tuesday. I have them scheduled for a vet appointment and have been sitting by the cage talking to them, giving them their food etc. They don’t seem to be to scared of me, though still a bit skittish. So allowing them to settle a bit before we start bonding. My question is though. When it comes to bonding. Should I put all 3 in the bonding pouch? Or just 1 at a time? Also, I keep seeing differing things on how long they can stay in the pouch. Most things say all day, however there are other things that say “all day if you give them a piece of apple”. What is best?

Also, last night about 2:30am I heard my female crabbing consistently as well as my youngest male barking. Normally she only does it if I look in the pouch or crinkle a bag (haha) I came down to check and my neutered male (I have 1 female and 2 neutered males) was on top of her and not letting her go. She was fighting him and they were rolling all over the place, every time she tried to get on the side of the cage, he pulled her down. (I am checking her for injury this morning) is this normal? Most of what I read says it is? However, most seem to be in relation to sexually mature males and female. Where I don’t think mine are yet? I am not sure, I know they are young.

Sorry this was so long, new owner and even though I spent almost 2 years reading and watching videos I knew their would be things I wouldn’t know to even ask until they were here! Thank you so much <3

Hi, are they a bonded trio? I would put all in the pouch at the same time so one does not get too cold. And so they are all together so they know they are safe. I would try to bond mostly early in the morning or later at night because I am sure you know but they are nocturnal. It is not normal that they are fighting. What diet are you feeding them? It is a possibility they could be hungry? Are the water bottles all filled up? Even though the males are neutered they could be fighting over the female. I would bring them in to the vet soon to get her checked out for signs of bite marks. Sugar gliders mature earlier then other animals. I have had my gliders( I have five gliders) for 3 years and they have never fought. You can PM me if you have questions. If you PM me I will give you my phone number I do not like the way the messaging is set up. Let me know if you ever need anything!!

I sent you a message, might have been an email? Haha not sure how it all works (new to the site) however I did send you a message with my number as that seems to be easier.

As far as their diet they are on the TPG diet. I do not know if they were bonded (though I don’t think so? I just got them together from the breeder) I checked them all over no one had any marks or anything and they were getting along fine this morning when I woke back up. I asked the breeder and she said it could be stress (I just got them Tuesday.) they have a vet appointment on Monday.

Haha, it’s a confusing site. Took me a while to understand it. I do not think they are bonded since they are from a breeder. Often they just pick random gliders and put them together and then give them to you. What breeder are they from? I think their diet is fine as long as they are getting enough food. It could also be stress like the breeder said. If they continue to fight I would separate them for an hour then give them all a treat and put them together. I got the email but not a number so I will PM you my number.
