New Pet

Sugargliders make wonderful pets. They are unlike any other animal that I have ever had, and at the same time require different care than I have ever given. When you first bring your new pet home, it will be very frightened and protective of itself. As curious as you are to play with it and see what it will do and so on, you must leave it alone for a day or two. The animal will best get used to its new environment on its own. It is common for the animals to not eat for a day or two in new surroundings as well. Do not worry too much about this. The animal will eat when it thinks it is safe and when it gets hungry. Im sure we can all remember times when we had anxiety and did not want to eat even though we should have. It is best to not offer food to calm the animal down either. Just let it alone. Food should be served on a schedule starting immediately. I recommend feeding the animals around 10:00pm when they wake up for the night. Just give them a bowl of food and let them explore it on their own. After time the animal will get used to being fed and will get used to you as well. Then you can start offering food by hand and can start being a pal to your new buddy.
