Nov 7, 2013 Lost joeys and heartbreak. Posted by: DaysiaMy two suggies, Bengt and Marzia rejected their joeys yesterday. I tried to hand raise the joeys by strictly following Suz, but I found them dead when I went to feed them. My suggies have always rejected their joeys (who have all come o.o.p. prematurely) according to the previous owner. I sit here wondering if there was anything else I could have done, or were they just not meant for this world. I need help.
Nov 4, 2013 how do i introduce a new glider with these complications?! Posted by: lolaglider911So i have a new glider that is still kind of scared of people and not attached to anyone. i am really nervous because she is alone. she seems happy but i know it is important to have someone for her. I want to get another glider. I know i want a girl, but is it a good idea to get one (i will get one that's already used to humans)? or am i better off waiting until mine is more used to me? If you say to get one, how do i introduce them, especially if i dont have too much handling on the one i already have. Help?! Oct 22, 2013 HELP - I THINK MY RATS GOT MY SUGGIES SICK! Posted by: mcrmy_soldier I'm really worried, so please skip the "you're really stupid" lecture. I just got two rats, and they have mycoplasma(have not been to the vet yet for the antibiotics but will be within a week). Without thinking, after handling the rats I picked up Spaz (my male glider) without washing my hands. Realizing what I had done I quickly put him back and scrubbed my hands, but I must not have done it quick enough, because Spaz is now sneezing just like the rats are. I'm not sure if Squirrel(the female) is yet, but it wouldn't surprise me. Is it possible for them to pick up mycoplasma from the rats or am I just being paranoid? The cages are kept in separate rooms so the only contact they've had is the 5 minutes Spaz was in my hands. I really can't afford to take all four animals to the vet unless they all need it. Obviously if they need it I'll find a way. Their health is the most important. My other question would be if I need to take them all and can only afford to take one or the other at the present moment, should I take the rats or gliders first? I know in most cases rats can have mycoplasma for months and be fine before they get pneumonia, whereas I would think the gliders have weaker immune systems and should be taken first, but I don't know. Help? I'd do anything for my babies :( Sep 28, 2013 Sugar gliders not getting along Posted by: Niquole823 I got three sugar gliders for my birthday in August. Two male one female. Judging by the size and relationship they seemed to have we thought that the smaller male (Doctor) was the baby of the other two (Amy and Rory). We didn't know much about their past other than we could tell they were neglected and mistreated. They settled in and took to us in about a day for the males and the female took 2-3 to warm up to us. They are very well trained now. well About a week ago I got another one. We had seen it o Craigslist. It was free because the guy didn't have time to play with it. So we figured what's one more? Another male (Master). And we would be helping out the sugar glider by giving it a better home. Well when we got him home he again warmed up to us quickly in about an evening like the others. Well when we introduced the gliders Rory (the slightly larger male, the dominate one) attacked master. And we've tried everything gee could think of. but we've had to put them in separate cages at night so that Rory doesn't hurt him. Because he full fledged attacks him. If I take Rory out of the cage and put Master in there with Doctor and Amy he does great and they play with him. But If Rory is in there Doctor turns on him and attacks him too. So right now we had them in two cagesat night. Amy and Master in one and Doctor and Rory in the other so none of them are lonely. Amy is very protective of Master. She doesn't let the boys bully him hen she's right there but it's been a week and Doctor has stopped but Rory hasn't gotten an better. Sep 23, 2013 I feel Like a failure Posted by: sweetsugarglider56 I started out with 2 gliders in april of 2011. The female died after about a year and a half for some kind of intestinal clogging. It took me forever to finally except that she was gone. My male was then alone, so I came home with 2 new gliders. These 2 were females. I was just thinking yesterday that maybe I can except that my first female(ginger) was gone. But that night I found my male in the bottom of the cage sick. I noticed him in the wheel that day, but didn't think much of it. But near feeding time he was struggling to climb. I picked him up and right away I noticed how weak and cold he felt. His eyes were practically closed and his ears were down. He was eating and drinking but I could tell that whatever had happened, it was probably too late for him. That night I didn't want to sleep because I knew what was coming. I prayed and prayed. In the morning he was dead. I don't know why. I have lost 2. i feel like a complete failure and I feel like I need to give the new females back. I think I'm done with this. Sep 1, 2013 BABIES!!!! Posted by: aaliyahb123so today, I just got the new members of my family. 4 new sugar gliders. I brought home 3. The mother the father and their joey. turns out the mother is "pregnant" with another right now, and shes dues in about 3 months. I build a HUGE pvc cage for them, I hope they love it! Aug 30, 2013 new owner Posted by: aaliyahb123so, I have been considering getting a sugar glider for the longest time now, I have done so much research it would blow your mind. I haven't gotten my joey yet, but I am currently looking around for one. by next weekend I should have the new member of my family. I decided to build a pvc cage instead of buying one, im to worried about my joey getting zinc poisoning. The biggest problem I have right now would be the diet, I have looked at so many different websites and resources, but I cannot figure out exactly what to use, I have a general idea, but I want someone with experience to help me out. I need a schedule for feeding time and what exactly to feed my sugar glider. Aug 27, 2013 Little Question:) Posted by: Morley11I am going to take a look at my soon-to-be joeys the day after tomorrow!:3 And i just wanted advice on which gender is the best option... i heard that males are more playful although are more aggressive and smelly, whereas the females are more grumpy and shy although less smelly since they have less scent glands? is this true? and are there any other variables? THANKS Y'ALL!:) Aug 21, 2013 My female sugar glider has developed a white spot right above her nose Posted by: ToridaleIdk if it's just a bald spot but it's right above her nose and it just showed up like a week ago Aug 20, 2013 Me and my sugarglider Bubbles aren't bonded yet, she seems underweight and she acts sketchy or wierd. Help!! Posted by: SpaceekittyMy sugarglider Bubbles, I have for a few months now. I get her out sometimes but I dont like having her run around my room because of the things she chews on and gets into. Were not bonded, so I dont get to hold her. She sometimes bites but not very hard. The previous owner gave me her and told me to feed her protein sugarglider pellets, cut apple, and a few fruit loops. Every now and then I give her some yogurt for a treat. Lately she seems skinnier and shes acting very different. She barely lets me touch her without her making a sound she does when shes woken up. I dont know what is wrong with her but she has plenty of toys and space in her cage. Sometimes she acts like she doesnt know me. PLEASE HELP ! Aug 12, 2013 my sugar glider looks depressed? Posted by: msdelgadomy sugar glider would always be playing and all energetic. couple of days ago he started to change.. he seems so sad and all her does is sleep most of the time. he's only a year old and he's the only glider I have. please help? Aug 9, 2013 New Cage! Posted by: viciousencountersEver since April the girls and I have been going through some life changes. Eventually with the advice of Kazko and Ed the decision became finalized, the ladies would have to be split into two groups. The split was appreciated by one but it obviously broke the happy trio's heart, but in the end they will be better off. Up until yesterday one of the pairs had been living in the tent which was not the most ideal, hard to clean, play, and see them often. So we finally got them their own cage:
Luna and Ky loved it and their new Secret Controversy Canopy!
