Aug 8, 2013 Unusual behavior Posted by: TheBlueZebraIs it normal for gliders to groom eachother? My gliders' cage is next to my bed room so I stopped by to play with them for a little bit before I went to bed. My boy, Nosy is really skittish so whenever I go near the cage he runs and hides on the top platform of the cage so I usually only get to interact with Bugsy, the girl. Today Nosy was apparetly getting used to me because he started truing to get closer to me, but when he did Bugsy would run over and just rub her face into all of his neck fur! I dont really know what this is but it looked kinda like grooming, the way cats do when they trust eachother. Of its not could someone explain this??
Aug 8, 2013 Help! Please! Posted by: ruffmeghanI would like to know exactly what everyone feeds there gliders. I have five. They always have pellets in their cage. Every night they get fruits and vegetables. They also get either baby yogurt, baby food (chicken), or mealworms. Is this a good diet. I'm scared I'm harming them. Help! Aug 7, 2013 Sugar Glider Rescue Map Posted by: viciousencountersThe Sugar Glider Rescue Map
This map was put together to make it easier to find rescues near you that may have sugar gliders. A resource that will help give good gliders forever homes. On that note I would like to address the fallacy that older gliders do not make good pets because they are past bonding years. Older gliders do make great pets just as joeys can except you skip the "terrible two's" stage when you adopt a glider past it's joey years. You will also miss out on getting them use to humans, being away from their parents, and probably having to do introductions! Even though these guys are advanced in age they have their own personalities, go check them out at your local rescue and see if they are a good fit. You might also try: Craigslist

on here. Aug 6, 2013 Sugar Glider Blog Posted by: Lonefang I decided to start a journal to see my progress with my sugar gliders through time. I got my first 3 sugar gliders a couple months ago and thought I did my research, but I never knew there was so much to them. I am still studying and learning. So then about 3 weeks ago I decided I would like breed my sugar glider to have one or two joeys. So I bought an unneutered male with a cage that is a little bit bigger than the first one. I have been buying pouches, making pouches, food and treats and toys and vitamins and everything else I see necessary because I'm falling in love with my little suggies. They're previous owners didn't have time for them so I am slowing getting them used to me an not to mention buttering them up with lots of goodies. Progress is slow, but steady. The males will come out and climb on me a little bit, the females are a bit more caucious. Hopefully, in time, they will all bond with me. In the meantime, I'm saving up for a bigger cage and weighing the pros and cons of starting a mealworm farm. Guess that's enough for one log. I'll have plenty more next time as they are always suprising me. Aug 5, 2013 I think Sydney is pregnant Posted by: GabrielI have two gliders, Theo and Sydney. Jul 23, 2013 How Do You Post to the Forum? Posted by: Cpt. CatfishIm new here, and cant figure out how to post to the forum, please help Jul 23, 2013 Cage Wanted Near Winstom-Salem NC Posted by: Cpt. CatfishHi everyone! I have somewhat of an odd situation here... I live with my father in the school year, and with my mother in the summer, in a different state. But I want to bring my sugar gliders, but we dont have enough room for the cage... So I was wondering if anybody in North Carolina, preferrably near Winston-Salem, has a cage for sale. P.S. - This also might be silly, but I know it would be better to post this to the forum, but I can't figure out how... Please Help! Jul 20, 2013 Blessed Mistake [suggyfae] Posted by: suggyfae
Now you're probably thinking that what is a Blessed Mistake? Well, its an obvious mistake.. but it grew into place gracefully [though with several painful bites & scratches]. I stumbled upon "Sugar gliders" & read about them until i fell inlove with those little critters & being an animal enthusiast, i was eager to own a suggie.
Where i come from, breeders Dont exist. So it consumed time to find exotics. One day an amazing incidence happened, I found a suggie. but they werent tame nor young. I didnt know how old they were & i didnt care, all i knew is they had a bald spot that indicated that they were mature males, and their crabbing spooked me out but i said "They're scared, not mean." I picked a male, i named him Saranghae[Korean: Love] He cost 700 i think? i was reluctant to have those suggies at that moment because i didnt have a bonding pouch nor experience to start off with an Un-Tame suggie but if a person only adopts/buys a tame animal, then what happens to the un-tame ones? every animal must be given a chance in life no matter how tough their personality is and no matter where they come from. if you think you can handle it like i did and still am, then thats the most precious thing that you should hold on to and you should be proud of yourself for not being selfish and ignoring un-tame pets especially from pet shops.
i was determined and forced my dad to get him for me hence my journal title that says "Mistake". This mistake was the best mistake. Although i couldnt hold him like i would with tame animals, i couldnt wear gloves because they are too fragile and wearing a thick gloves may hurt them[might tighten the grib too tight]. So all i did was spending time with him in the bathroom until i bought a tent to spend time with him better. luring him to his cage in and out[didnt always work], let him lick off baby food from my finger & removing it as fast as i can or he'd bite, watch out to not have him pull me with his super sharp nails, and only pet him when he's busy eating....etc... Now i know sugar glider enthusiasts would say "THEY ARE SOCIAL ANIMALS, THEY NEED PARTNERS" it was in my mind too ok! although he was perfectly fine being alone because as you know, not all social animals prefer to be in a clan and its a true fact related to their individual personalities. I was praying to get a tame sugar glider and after a year or so, i found tame suggies :) they were tame 4 or 5 months old and i wanted to have them all but as you all know, 700 is seriously not worth a little animal to parents. I bought a suggie, her name is Monalisa. i didnt place her immediately with Saranghae. i introduced them first while each were in their own separate homes incase he tries to do something with her, she was still so young for any accidents to happen. So then i did it again within few weeks to give them a break and time to recognize each other and to excite them & after a year or months i felt they were ready and i let them both out together. it went good Thank God and they were both enchanted with each other. After more months i placed Monalisa near Saranghae's Ugg boots[which was meant to be mine] where he sleeps in. He was flirting with her like he did the last time they were out together, and she was reluctant to go out from the uggboot so i left them for a day, 2 days, 3..4...5 now they live together for months and both arent fixed. Hopefully getting baby suggies[MORE RESEARCH] and no, not going to sell. i never sell my animals even the evil killer ones like my Male chicken who fought with my dog and dug a hole into my dog's throat that made him bleed near death [Vet saved him..]
PS: Bought plenty of pouches :')
update: thank you for the comments, they make me smile everytime i see them :P Jul 20, 2013 My Sugar Glider refuses to bond with me dog Posted by: Yackie My Sugar Glider refuses to bond with my dog -I heard you can bond other pets with your sugar glider, so i tried it but for some reason it's not working. When i try getting my sugar glider (Maurice) out of his pouch/ Cage to meet with my dog (Tovy), Maurice freezes and pees. Tovy in the past has tried biting Maurice, but i know this is an instinct of him to want to get things in his mouth. For example, when i take him out for a walk he bites his leash and takes it to me or when he wants to play with something he bites it then picks it up and takes it to me. I've been training my Tovy to stop his biting habit, and it's been going well he seems to understand that he's not supposed to bite Maurice, but he's really anxious to meet Maurice. Tovy seems to be like a little three-year-old when it comes to Maurice, he cries in his cage anxious to see him come out, but instead Maurice starts making this weird crabbing sound. Tovy refusses to sleep in his bed, he sleeps next to Maurice's cage ever-since. Help..? Can anyone help me to bond my two babies? Jun 23, 2013 1st time owner Posted by: lesaAbout 3 months ago I bought 2 brothers they were 13 wks old, a little scared but they started to come around then about a month ago I talked to a kid that was leaving for college and she had to little girls one was 13 wks and the other 11 wks. I brought them home and I slowly put them together Sammie the old female went right in and everything was great but KeeKee was screaming and seemed to be getting attacked by the two boys I got her out and put her in a cage next to them so they could see each other, I keep her with me a couple hours a day hoping she would not be so scared, I've tried twice now to put her in with them I even put her in with Sammie and now she wants nothing to do with her, I'm not sure when they are together if they are hurting her or not they chase her and there is a lot of screaming noise I need help I don't want her to be alone but I eventually I'm going back to work. Any suggestions
