Not really sure what the topic should be named because I'm particularly not sure what I'm asking about here.
My girl had joeys and they are now 3 weeks old. Last night She was out of the cage and I saw her pouch. Now...
I have no clue what the heck if wrong. There was this pink like thing with a piece that COULD HAVE been a nipple, hanging out. If it was...then it was inflamed. I thought maybe it was another joey. But it just didn't look like it. I thought maybe since she's nursing that the area was swollen.
The babies haven't been whining so I'm assuming they are getting fed. I'm thinking I should probably give momma a break and let her out while I watch the babies.
I haven't been able to see her yet since I just got home from work, and she's picky so I can't really get her to stay still long enough TO look. But I was trying to prolong going to the doc. since we're in the middle of a moving crisis and all that good stuff.
Anyhow does this sound normal to anyone? Does that area swell up that bad?

Get photos. But yes, their pouch gets loose and you can easily see the belly with nipples. It may even look messy/wet/reddish. Nipples do swell. Should be just fine but is worth some photos and keeping an eye.

BUT I have seen like the 'rim' of her pouch where its loose from the babies being in there. But last night I didn't see that. It was just a red lump with something poking out at the side. Like almost looked like a baby exposed in the area, only with one leg?
I don't know why this is the hardest thing to explain.
Imma see if I can invest in a Camera that actually works.

Maybe that will help you with comparison? It could be normal swelling or it could be really bad. I hope that can help you determine between the two. If you think it is a prolapsed pouch, please take her to the vet ASAP. Oreo lost his previous cagemate because her pouch was infected, or at least that is the story I was told.

that last pic kinda looks SOMETHING like it. Only the swelling isn't nearly as bad. it was swollen to maybe the size of a baby lima bean.
i actually checked last night and what i COULD see of her...it didn't look like it had gotten worse. I could barely see anything since she wouldn't stay still. i got a tiny peek and it looked like everything was fine again, of course it could have just been the way she was turned. =
i tried again this morning and she nipped at me. so imma HAVE to get her out to night and doublecheck. if its still out should i be worried? or even if its gone away?
