I have an intacted male glider that is four months older than my female. I have read not to put a older male with a younger female but since he is not that much older is it okay to put them together?

Your male should be neutered than when the female is close to the same size they should do fine together. If you are not planning to neuter him, then you should wait until she is about a year old to introduce them.

That is a long time to clean two cages and deal with two lone gliders. Get your little guy neutered and they can be best friends much sooner.

At 4 months she still isn't old enough to mate. If you got your male neutered and they are the same size than I would think it would be ok.

I have also let them meet once in the tent. They got along great. My female actually was kinda pushing the male around and he let her. I had a treat in the tent and gave it to the male and she stole away from him but he never tried to take any of the treats from her.

I don't want to neuter my male yet. he is 100% leu het mosaic glider and I'm still debating if I want to breed him or not but I'm afraid that he will be lonely and I didn't want to put a male with him because I was afraid they would fight.

Have you done any research on breeding? How long have you owned gliders? Do you know what to do if they get rejected?

If you do decide you want to breed in the future, she should be closer to a year old. She's still technically a joey at 16 weeks. She isn't capable of being a mom and the chance of her rejecting any joeys is very high. Supervised play time is fine but I imagine they're pretty lonely at night. I know it isn't an ideal situation but unless you get him neutered, they should not be living together until she is old enough to be a mom. It isn't fair to her.

What everyone is trying to tell you over and over again is - your female is to young to breed. Your male is already sexually mature.

Would you purposely allow a 12 year old girl have a baby? Maybe she is already having periods - but her mind and body are not mature enough to deal with babies. It is the same with your 4 month old female. Allowing him to have his way with her at her young age is cruel.

Yep. What Rita said. Just because she is big for her age doesn't mean she's ready for joeys.
