I already put a post about my girls pouch but I just want to know if there is anything I can do for her. I tried to examine her pouch a bit I didnt really see any inflamation or puffiness but it looks like raw and worn out from the joey. Im not sure if i can put anything on it to help if from being so sore. Ive noticed now that its hurting her even when the joey isnt nursing , and when he is nursing her singing kind of sounds like crabbing but she isnt harming the joey or preventing him from nursing. she kind of just deals with it. Can I do anything?

like i said, it really sounds like mastitus. I use a product called "bagbalm" its almost like neosporun but it is used on the udder area. I know it would not hurt her skin, but i would wait for someone else to post and see what they think about using a topical on a glider. I don't know if she would ingest it. Which really wouldn't do any harm but still i'm new!!!

Call the vet, ask them for some advice

Please don't put anything on it! The joey WILL ingest anything you put on it if she's nursing. You really need to call a vet if you're this concerned. If she's still nursing and the joey is being fed, I highly doubt it's mastitis, BUT we aren't vets. I watched both of my girls go through this. Hell, I went through this! LOL

Sory Kyro!!!

I didn't know the joey was still nursing. i'll keep my mouth shut.
if it's simply irratated then i missunderstood the discription. But if they are truely inflamed couldn't the glands them self be infected???
I'm curious my self!!

You don't have to apologize to me LOL I think the joey is just a little over 1 week OOP and will be nursing for the next few months. Netalian mentioned there was no inflammation...just that it looked raw.

Maybe what they are seeing is just the normal stretching associated with a Joey coming out of the pouch for the first time?? Is that possible? Could you post pics of your female's pouch? Without that I don't know if you need to be concerned or if what you are seeing is normal.
