It seems like the lady that I "ordered" Chocolate's friend from will have a baby ready for re-homing soon. We'll only find out the sex in 2 weeks. If baby isn't a girl, could 2 males live together, or is it not recommended? Until what age can a male be neutered?

Thanks Petals :)

Most certainly 2 boys can live together. ^.^ As for neutering, I'm not positive.

First of all, congrats on getting Chocolate a friend! =)
Just as Suppressedtearz said above, two boys can live together. =)
I have personally always waited at least until they are 3 months old to neuter. Although you should have pre-neuter wellness exam before neutering the boy.

More important than age is the weight of the glider. He should weigh at least 65 grams to be neutered. Irrespective of gender, the gliders should be close to the same size and weight before you attemt introductions.
Yes, neutered males do very well together ... I have three.

Thanks for the responses. Chocolate is at the right time to neuter now according to you advice - thanks :)

If 2 boys can live together, then I'm going to take this baby irrespective of its sex, as I didn't know boys could live together.

Thanks again :)

hey Petals,

I remember when you got chocolate because it was the same week I got Razzle; i've always remembered that our boys are the same age and sweet as can be.

Razzle got neutered last friday and he is doing GREAT!! I think it was a perfect age, not too young, but not too old!

I am also getting razzle a friend soon (maybe we'll get the friends around the same time as well) I decided I would take the joey regardless of sex as you have. But, luckily the momma glider had a boy and a girl, so i'm taking the girl.

Hey Hannah! :D

I'm thrilled to hear that Razzle's Neutering went so well :D Do you find that Razzle has less of that musky scent now?

When do you think Razz's friend will be ready to go home to you? It seems this little one will be ready in about 3 - 4 weeks

I'm very excited about the newest family member...Willow has decided that the new one will be called "Sweetie" (like candy)

Razzle had just started getting that musky smell two weeks before his neuter. So yes!! it has been a full seven days and I just stuck my head in his cage.... NO SMELL! none
of course I am very particular about smell, and luckily razzle is a very clean little boy. He doesn't defecate in his pouch or wheel so it's quite easy to clean up every morning.

I bring my little girl home in 3-4 weeks as well!! That is so Ironic, we are leading a very similar glider life style. I like willow's new name for the little girl. It go so well with Chocolate! I'm having a hard time deciding on a girl name to go with razzle, ask her for some suggestions.

the biggest all-male colony we have in rescue is 7 (dwarf colony after taking out the females). All neutered. All getting along fine. But before they were neutered they were hurting each other pretty bad. neutering really does work miracles.

The next biggest all-male colony as the Tanks at 5. That's where Bonnie hailed from but unfortunately we had to cull her out owing to repeated mating wounds. Anyway the Tank boys get along great now that they've been neutered. Before they came to the rescue and they were fertile, one of them (Buddy) had one of his ears bitten off which required surgery.

What about "Dazzle" for a girl?

I'll be glad to get rid of the musky smell - I smell like that scent after he's been running around on me! I make sure it's bath time for me AFTER playtime!

LG - Thanks for that info on the boys - it doesn't seem to be a common thing for different animals to have all males live together AND get along.

I've decided that I'm taking Chocolate at the end of the month to be neutered.
