I don't have a picture of mine but it's just 2 square pieces of sandpaper attached on the outside of the wheel on the plastic mesh with white, plastic screws.

are the edges of the sandpaper supposed to get tucked into the wheel, or trimmed?

I tuck it in under the rims. If it's too big for that, then you'll have to trim it.

Mine tuck in under the lids that form the sides of the wheel. You want the rough side facing in so their footpads will be on the plastic mesh but their nails will hit the sandpaper. Mine are MUCH better after just a couple nights with the Stealth Wheel with Trim Trax.

help!
are the plastic screws supposed to be screwed onto the mesh itself? Wouldn't that hurt their feet if they were running, like 8 white pebbles in their way?

No, the screws should be off to the side and sit pretty flush to the mesh also.

They look correct. The outside has the washer and the end of the screw.
