A child shouldn't be called insignificant or bothersome. Ever. No child is either of those things.
All/most of the younger ones on this site fight to be treated like adults, especially when it comes to owning a sugar glider. And there are many minors on this site who are very mature for their age. So that is exactly what is happening here, she is being treated no differently than any other adult on this site.

Thank you!

Changing the site to "adults only" would require minors to lie about their age to be here. That in itself would be helpful, in my opinion!

Insignificant no, but bothersome...my nephew certainly knows how to fit that description!

Oh yeah and then we have....
Child: mama, mom, mom, mama, mom, mama, mom, mama, mom, mom, mom, mom
Mother: WHAT! Child, what?!?

Kids get off on being bothersome...we just tend to say they get on our nerves, which to me is the same thing.

When i used the word douche and ass...I was harshly reprimanded because of the kids om this site. I was told we want them to feel like they can ask questions without being attacled or see cuss words. Now yall are namecalling and making a child feel unwelcome. Whose the douch now?

Okay, can we all agree to stop fighting now? Her glider died yes. Should she have taken it to the vet instead of come on our forum and told us about it? Yes. But, she didn't. Is everyone here so free of guilt or sin that they can judge this young lady? We can talk down to her and belittle her or support her and try to help her not make this mistake again. Maybe she is so young that she didn't think it would happen that quickly. I don't know. And neither does anyone else. It's unfortunate. I'm 44 and I'm still learning top deal with things such as this. I think and hope we can embrace her and have a group hug.

Rukiya, my 4 year old does that exact thing to me all of the time...bothersome is a pleasant word for it. I love him more than my own life, of course, but bothersome is certainly something that fits many children. This one in particular, I would probably choose much harsher words to describe. If she's responsible enough to decide a life is not worth bothering her father for, and careless enough to post about it here where people will be open about their opinions, she's responsible enough to either read what we have to say, or click the x button. No one here is forcing her to read this stuff. I just hope it will provide an example for others not to follow.

I just hope she doesn't take all this judgement and name calling to heart. Hopefully it will be a lesson in the kind of adult she doesn't want to grow up to be like, and I truly wonder if these people who are being so cruel to her are this cruel to their own children when they make a mistake.

And I don't think she made a mistake... yes, her glider was showing signs of illness but the person who could drive her to the vet was at work...and I'm sorry, maybe you all have the kinds of jobs where you can walk up to your boss and say, Hey I have to leave to take my kids glider to the vet,...and your boss would be a-ok with that but not all have that luxury. But she obviously knows the limits of her fathers job. Maybe he can't even take personal calls while on the job...who knows!

But it seems like there wouldn't be an issue with her had she called her father, he left work and the glider passed before he made it home, but because she didn't, she held her glider as it passed,...which I have seen numorous times on here...she is getting strung up by the lynch mob!

Maybe her father had been out of work and that's why money is tight...maybe he just got this job so she knew he couldn't risk leaving for fear of losing it... fact is, we don't know... and calling a child names isn't going to change a thing about this situation. I believe the earlier posts of people giving future advice could be helpful for her,...maybe her father can look into Care Credit...many don't even know it exists...

Either way Sugar, if you come back and read any of this try not to be too upset about the nastiness. Gleen what you can from the advice given to help your current gliders and maybe talk to your dad about what you should do in the future should something like this happen. Hugs to you sweetie.

Yep you sure can and that how the cops get people the prey on children!!!!! What you do on the internet can be used against you including child abuse and yes name calling is considered child abuse.
Hey so if i made a profile and came on here said i was 14 and had an issue to the point where something was dying you would believe my age!!!!!!!

I can type right now I'm 14 and you guys do not know how old i really am....this is the internet....dont like it stop paying your internet bill and get it shut off or stop coming on here *common sense if you have that*. She came here, this site is known for the opinions wither there NICE or NOT. GET OVER IT! You do not even know how old she really is! She could be a fat, 40 year old male virgin for all you know. Get over yourself. People need to learn that this is just a FORUM opinions of everyone matters.

SHE AGREED TO TAKE CARE OF THE ANIMALS WHEN SHE PURCHASED THEM....SO THEY ARE HER RESPONSIBILITY. I did not see her mention ONCE that she had intentions to even ASK an adult to bring that glider to the vet. Didn't see the word VET in her post.

The phrase "Cyber Bullying" comes to mind. That was my point earlier....yes, it's the internet, yes it's a forum but if something that was said on this thread causes this child to do something that can't be reversed...whether we think it's insignificant or not, there would be some adults that would be in trouble with the law.

Yes and that means that anything they are expose to on here or any site for that matter is the fault of the child and parent for not paying attention to what there kids are doing online.

i just think the word "twit" should be the least of anyone's concerns. Kids learn much worse words just by watching t.v,surfing the internet, and going to school. I'm pretty sure the F word was in everyone's vocabulary by high school or even earlier. I'm not trying to downplay name calling (cus its not cool), but this whole thing sorta started with the word "twit"...and that's really a minimal word on the bad word list...if its even considered a bad word lol
