I always was worried about that. I don't use no-sew for that reason. Thanks for posting this Kyro. I am sorry for Daves loss.

Me too. :-( I read that post. Over time, the fleece starts to stretch so that even if your knots are tight, the "openings" between the knots can widen and entrap a suggie. I have seen that even with my kids' no sew fleece blankets that have been washed over and over again.

I made one no-sew pouch shortly after I got Tilly. When Tilly climbed into the pouch - she feel out of a hole in the bottom. Made the decision right there and then I would no longer make my glider pouches. I knew the ones *I* made were not safe!

That's why I never made a no-sew sleeping pouch, either. Instead, I purchased a double lined fleece pouch with no exposed seams.

This is a very sad story. Please remember everyone, that ANYTHING can be unsafe, no matter how hard we try. Whatever you personally decide to use in your cages, just remember the important thing to share here... check their sleeping quarters, and toys as often as possible!

Another note, to those that use knots... I didn't learn this until I was in my 40's and my son started cub scouts last year...
Left over right, Right over left...
That means that if you have two different color fleeces, and you are tying a double knot, you start with putting the "black" piece over the "white" piece on the first knot, then the "black" over the "white" again on the second knot. Don't just take my word for it, take 2 pieces of scrap and test it.

This type of knot is VERY hard to get un-done (although not impossible)... and because people don't do this when they tie their kid's shoes, that is EXACTLY why kids run around w/ their shoe-laces un-done all the time!

Hope this helps somebody out there, it surely helped me.

Gliders are very inquisitive and smart. A couple of years ago, I took a long shoestring and tied a bunch of knots in it. I hung it from the top of their cage. They had those knots undone in nothing flat.

And YES - it was a supervised play time. I would never leave them alone with a string!

Accidents can and do happen. And they can happen at anytime to any glider owner. None of us would ever purposely do something that would harm our gliders.

I saw a thread and some members talking about making and using no-sew pouches so I thought I would bump this thread. Better everyone know the chances of the dangers of using them.

I look at the stuff in their cage nightly. Maybe it's some OCD or something, but I'm ok with being 'paranoid'.
