i have and issue come up but before i tell everyone, i would like to know everyone thoughts on PETA?. i just dont want to hit anyones buttons.

PETA hasnt really come up since most of the new people have been here, so I cant speak for the rest of them.

Personally, I dont agree with PETA's philosophies.

It'll hit buttons but we're all adults and SHOULD be able to handle any discussion. :)

PETA sucks, they believe in total animal liberation, which means no pets

ok so today i went to a place that sells friut and the lady had monkeys. i live on the eastern shore of va and we dont have that around here that much just horses. well any way i was asking her how hard it was to get and exotic pet licenes and she said you dont need one in the county we live in, but PETA was trying to change that. she said that they are trying to take all animals except dogs and cats for people but there will be a limte and that instead of finding them the right home they will put them down. well to me thaT Is so wrong people are willing to take these animals in there homes and take care of them and love them as part of there family. how can they get away with putting them down and not give them a chance. my hubby told me that PETA that an hour a way from us puts more animals down a year then are loacl aspca.gthere has to be a way to stop this. animals are like some peoples children i know mine are and there is know way in HELL i will give mine up.( sorry bad word just getting mad) if i could i would take in all strays to give them a chance so all i have to say is....PETA SUCKS BIG TIME AND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN

I personally don't think it could/would ever happen but this is the problem with radical groups...it's all black and white; no open-mindedness for exceptions, solutions, etc...

i used to be a part of PETA but then they went after exotics and animal trainers....now im not so big on there ideas. and what the heck? why sea kittens? that is the dumbest thing ive ever heard

I don't know much about PETA but by reading this, I'm learning something new. I thought they were all about saving animals? How does putting animals down save them? Sea kittens - LOL! Goofiness!

PETA is radical, however, I agree with them in a lot of areas. I think that they do a lot of good and their bad ideas generally don't go anywhere.

i just feel they should not put animals down because they dont want pet to have them. we choose to take care of exotics. i always hate to hear the animals are being put down. the only time i agree with it is when the aNimals is mean and in harm of hurting peple.

PETA puts down a lot of animals every year. They have ever "adopted" animals out of no-kill shelters and euthanized them.

I understand wanting to change the plight of animals. I do not understand the radical extremist viewpoint that anything they do that makes the news is free publicity.

There is a difference in bombing an abortion clinic and educating young women about their reproductive health and responsibilities, yanno? You can desire the same end-goals without hurting people in the process. The ends do not always justify the means.

If it was up to PETA we wouldn't be allowed to have fish tanks in our living rooms, service animals, or police dogs.

PETA also spends more money each year on legal defense and getting out of jail than on actually helping animals.

I absolutely do not believe that PETA rescues and then euthanizes. Where did you get this information??? Honestly, this sounds like rhetoric from a right leaning media source to me. Sorry, I am not going to believe this until I see some evidence. Can you site a source or two for me? I would greatly appreciate it.

I just had to make a hard decision to put my sick old dog down that had heart disease that is uncurable, my family is broken hearted. I would much rather see perfectly healthy animals be placed in loving homes than put down. Please spay and neuter to help the population so there aren't so many unwanted animals.

Thank you and I appreciate it. Seems like they would have everyone on their side, because people don't know these things. I had no idea of any of these practices. People only are told about sunshine and rainbows you know what I mean.

a ton of teenage idiots in my school started a animal club. i joined it for ONE week and then realized they were all a bunch of PETA disciples. they all yelled at me for owning gliders and training dogs and having fish and a turtle and yada yada yada. i thought it was hilarious how brainwashed these kids were.

I always wonder if PETA, or other radical groups of any sort, ever question what they're told.

The reason there are dog breeds is because way way back someone found a great use for dogs in different areas - hunting, herding, keeping rabbits out of the vegetable patch, etc. Same with horses - hunting, farming, racing, all sorts of things these animals can do catered to their specific abilities. There is no way America or any other nation has the same number of horses that they used to. Farm machinery has largely replaced the need for them, and they are kept mainly as pets or for shows.

If more animals had an economic niche, there'd be a lot more people wanting to keep them around, and the animals are better cared for. I guarantee you a sheep herder doesn't wait to take his dog in to the vet when it gets sick. He needs that dog, for his livelihood. The rainforest is getting slaughtered largely because no one knows what's in it that they're killing, only that raising the land makes more food for their village. Could be the cure for cancer is in there and would make that village rich to the eyeballs in 5 years or so after the drug studies. But everyone cares about here and now, not later.

Mary I would have LOVED to mess with that group of teens. Our government teacher in high school gave us an assignment to research a special-interest group of our choosing. I got to present about the NRA, right ahead of the PETA gal in our class. She came off looking like an idiot because all she could do was mimic back what she'd read on their website. No statistics, no history, no current "this is what we're working on." I guess it goes back to that saying, there is no believer more fervent than the convert.

HAHAHA- i did something similar the day i left that club. I said, I LOVE ANIMALS! they are so TASTY! which c'mon now, im from chicago, i love a good steak! well they all just stared at me like i was the devil!

PETA, does not do enough good for animals that they should.
