I'm fairly new to the forum althoug I've been a member since 2008. I've been looking for almost a year for one. I had one all lined up about 9 months ago and had a family emergency so could no longer take him.

I've finally found one and I get to pick her up tommorrow. I'll be paying $130 for her and her cage/accesories. The lady I am buying her from has already sent me a picture and I am already so attached.

I've done tons of research and plan on doing more most of the night. You can never learn to much. I know eventually I will have to find her a companion in the near future, but since I'm new I divided to see how well I do with one, althouh I am confident I'd do great.

Do any of you have any tips or suggestions for me?

All I can say is, read read read! Read until your eyes are gonna fall out, rest and read some more. The Gliderpedia has some very good information, and there are lots of threads about bonding, diet and housing. Be aware ... glideritis is not a reversible condition, you'll have it forever.

Congrats on getting your new baby! Let us know how it all turns out xD Make sure you look over the baby before you get her. And don't be afraid to ask the owners questions, they should know general info about the glider. And we want to see pictures asap!!

Congrats. I would make sure you know what she is feeding it and get some extra. If the food isn't a good diet I would change it. Yes read read and read some more. Oh yea and ask questions.

OMG! I asked the lady if she could send me a picture of her cage.
This is what she sent me:

This is horrify.
She said the reason her cage is so small is because she's only 11 weeks. :[
I feel so bad for her, and considering I don't have the means to drive an hour for 2 weeks makes me sad.

I guess I gotta try to find her a bigger cage.
If you guys have any ideas on were I could find a cheap one please let me know. This is sad. :/

Unfortunately cages are pretty expensive. I found this one on ebay 5 Level Sugar Glider Cage that I purchased. Apparently many people own it and while it's not the biggest it was the best I could do for now. It's the cheapest one that I could find that I thought would be okay. Other than that you may want to keep an eye on craigslist and garage sales in your area to see if anyone is selling bird cages that would be okay. Remember, the bars can only have 1/2 spacing or else a glider can get out! And make sure you know what the metal is before you buy. Good luck!

I can get a 65 gallon reptarium on craigslist for $20. I was wondering how that would do for a cage.

I personally don't think a reptarium would make a good cage...

I ended up finding a older sugar glider really near by. She's including the cage along with a travel cage with toys, food, and vitamins. She's only gonna charge me $100 considering she really needed to find her a home and I proved to her that I had done my research.

The new glider is still a girl, and is 2 years old. Plus, I get to pick her up tomorrow afternoon. :]

I'm thinking I still might adopt the first one, the on in the pictures, because I'll need a companion for the new one and I feel like she deserves a better home.

Congratz on your glider, I just got my 2 girls last week. The younger one Peanut has warmed to us now she crawls all over me, but the older one Cocco still bites a little, and it would be nice for your glider to have a friend, anyways I just wanted to share that I recently got 2 beautiful girls. Soon I'll be posting so everyone can see, and best of luck with the little suggies

We finally got her! Yay! We named her Sassy. She's adorable. Lol!
We get her friend in two weeks. The one pictured. I can't wait.

The lady we got her from gave me a DVD from PPP along with saying that they know everything about caring for sugar gliders. I was like ok.... and in my head I was like you have no idea.

We do have o change her diet, because she was being fed pellets, a slice of apple, and 1/4 slice of breed every night. So tomorrow we will slowing get her taken off of that one, and on to hopefully Pricella's Diet.

The first thing we did when we got home was throw out the heat heat lamp, the lady insisted she needed. You could tell little Miss Sassy had already been trying to chew threw it.

You have just done that glider a huge favor! Giving her a loving home, and taking her off of the PPP lies! Actually I'm sure a lot of us would like to hear the 'advice' on that dvd, just so we have some data against them! A change of diet will do her good, and so will lots of loves (and kisses!)! I am so happy to hear this news! Please keep us updated! And we want more pics! There are never enough pictures of cuties!

Today I was searching on cage's list trying to find a bigger cage and I came across a post by the same lady we were suppose to pick up our second sugar glider from in two weeks. It looks like she's going back on her word and trying to find her a new home. There's not to many people with sugar gliders around here.
I have to get a playmate for Sassy, because of what can happen when they're all alone. There are some available, but they're like 3 hours away. Right now I can't afford to pay what I will have to, plus the gas to drive 3 hours.

What am I going to do?!
