This might be kinda stupid, but I thought since most of us here are sugar lovers I thought I'd ask.

As some of you may know, my Sassy needs a cage mate. There's not really any place close around me to adopt/rescue one from. I can't really afford shipping or driving 2-4 hours.

Someone has offered me her three girls for a really small price. The problem is she's 5 hours away from me. I can't afford to drive that far.

Is there anyone, or multiple people that would possibly do some driving for me? Even if its a little ways. Any help would be nice.

Again, I feel so stupid asking this.
Ugh

Please PM or e-mail me if anyone can help.

I understand and being one that pushes friends and companionship for gliders I wish I could help because I would. Unfortunately I'm in Virginia Beach, VA. Nowhere near you. I truly wish I was because I really like to practice what I preach. I hope some people from here find some time to devote to helping you out but I'm not sure how many people are close enough to you to help.

As we sincerely promote asking questions suggieluver I think it would be more appropriate for you to begin a thread of your own. I will be glad to answer that question but out of respect please start your own thread.

tballetoes...please accept our apology for interupting your thread. I am going to help suggieluver02 with her thread. Good Luck in finding help and I feel awful that I do not live close enough. I love road trips and have traveled 4 hours one way to rescue one of mine. I'm praying for you some help in your quest to find someone to help in your railroad to get your baby a friend(s).

This kind of behavior is very disrespectful. I don't care if you have "anger management" issues, you will not get far on this forum if you speak to the other members like this. We also, out of RESPECT for one another, do not hijack other people's threads REPEATEDLY, even after being asked very nicely to stop. This is about a moving gliders from point a to point b. Not toys. Stay on topic and treat others like you'd like to be treated, or leave.

Goldwinger, my hat is off to you for handling that as gracefully as you did. I know I would have been a bit more...uh... colorful. ;)

Now, regarding what this thread is actually about. Would the seller reduce their sale price so you could put that extra money towards gas to go get them? Seeing as how you are further away? Or is this a situation where you're better off not asking for something like that?

I am the one who is rehoming three of my girls to Staci, so that Sassy has a girl gaggle to hang out with. I love these girls dearly, but as many of you know, I have sixteen gliders right now. They all have a wonderful home, but I would sincerely like for these three girls to get even more love and attention than I will soon be able to give them. I am going to continue running my online business, but have a great opportunity in health care that I will probably be taking on soon, too. I have been reading Staci's threads, and can see that she loves gliders very much. I believe she has done her homework and will give little Ella, Hilary, and Midori an excellent home with all of our support. I cried last night thinking about them going, but I know that this will be a good situation for all four girls. I contacted Staci yesterday afternoon, after thinking about Sassy's loneliness, and the fact and I am going to get even busier than I already am very soon, so these three girls may not get all of the attention they need from me.

I am asking a very nominal rehoming fee, simply because I bought a huge hexagonal cage, three Wodent Wheels, have made custom cage sets and bonding pouches, as well as lots of toys that are going to go with these girls. I want them to have all of the creature comforts around them that they have become accustomed to. Additionally, these girls have received excellent veterinary care. I am not trying to make any money off of their rehoming, trust me on that one. Anyone who really knows me KNOWS that is not what I am about. I am thinking, if one were to add everything up, I would guess I have easily invested over $1000 in these girls! My rehoming fee is $100, which really doesn't totally cover the cage cost. Staci has been very nice and is totally reasonable about this. She's a gem!

My thoughts about this--if someone cannot pay a very nominal fee like this for all of the great stuff that I am sending with these girls, they probably cannot afford to keep them in the lifestyle that they deserve and need.

I drive a VW Jetta...tiny car. I am not certain what Staci drives. The cage is at least six feet tall. I cannot get this big cage into my vehicle to drive it to her. She needs a nice, big cage like this!I have made it completely clear that I will not just let these girls do to someone who doesn't have a big, spacious cage for them to live in, as they are used to. The stress of rehoming can be challenging enough for gliders, without being forced into a small cage. We have both racked our brains trying to figure out how we could get these girls and all of their belongings from here to there, and decided to reach out to the larger community to see if anyone with a larger vehicle may be going in her direction.

Anyhow, sorry to go on a bit of a rant here! I would just caution everyone to please be careful, assuming that someone is out to make a buck off of the lives of these babies, when they are asking a small rehoming fee. Not everyone is out to make a buck.

Okay, I'm getting down off of the soapbox now. Please excuse all of the emotion.

Suggieluver, I am very much aware that you are a kid. I knew that from the first time you posted. But that doesn't excuse poor manners. Now I'm glad that you worked things out with Goldwinger, but you need to learn how to interact on a forum without having a meltdown. I was not yelling at you, I was correcting you. It is not a personal attack but a reminder to watch your behavior. No different then what you would get from a parent or teacher. You are not the only teen/pre-teen on this board and many other kids like to hang out here on this forum and they are very much welcome here as are you. But there are rules. The people on this forum are some of the best in the glider community and they will teach you so much if you are willing to learn. But no one will want to help you if you have a meltdown every time you don't like what they say or think they are attacking you.

Mollysmom - I think that it is wonderful that you are doing this, and no, $100 is definitely NOT too much to ask for a rehoming fee. I wish I could help but I'm nowhere near you and that cage is going to be pain to move. You pretty much have to have a truck for it. Does it come apart, maybe?
