My eternal thanks to Molly's mom who made the cage set and my husband for the wonderful cage.

Thats a different cage. I like the large door at the top. Does it have a slide out tray at the bottom. You gave me some good ideals for a new cage. I have been wanting to make one but Im not to fond of the PVC Pipe cages.

PVC board! That is an awesome idea! I like that much better than simple PVC pipe. It's the same stuff you make some horse fencing from but I never thought of it being used for cages. I like it! And mollysmom's cage sets are always lovely! That pattern in particular is quite unique. I'd be asking for a couple more pieces made from that material while she's got it on hand!

Yay! I love that cage!!! If you all lived closer to me, I'd probably be hiring your husband to make some for me. Hmmm...maybe if I show my husband what YOUR husband did, he'd give it a try???!

You did a wonderful job at decorating.

The babies love it. 2 were rescues that had never been out of a hamster little cage so they didn't even glide at first. Now they are spreading their wings (membranes) and climbing all over. They are so cute when they stick their noses out of the tube or the cube.

Wow, it all looks GREAT! PVC board? Where do you get that? I have never heard of it. I make all kinds of animal cages, including my suggie cage, and am VERY interested in this material!! ;)

You hubby did a fantastic job, and so did Wendi (MollysMom)! Congrats!!

(Wendi, if hubby doesn't want to build it, YOU can!)

Thanks for your vote of confidence, Sari. You're right about that! I've done all kinds of things in my life that I would have never thought I could do simply by trying! I've just felt so yucky over these past two weeks, I barely want to get out of bed. I know what Rip VanWinkle (or Wrinkle?) must have felt like.

I think he just got it at Lowes. It is what they use for outdoor window sills. I absolutely love the big top door that folds down.

Is that wire or hardware cloth?? If it's not hardware cloth, what did you use?? I have a cage that the previous owners of my boys made. I hate it though. It's the piping with hardware cloth and its SO HARD to clean.

Ask him if he'd give us written instructions so some of us NOT so creative women could build one. (That means me) And as much as I love my husband he's couldn't build a hole in the ground....lol

Is that galvanized wire you used for the cage? I have heard that it's not good to use for gliders.

It was galvanized wire. What did you hear?
It is called cage wire
He bought the cage wire 30" tall by 10' rolls so it is two cages together without a floor on the top one.
The board is more flexible than would so it needs more support than a board by turning a board on its side to support. It is stapled and screwed with care to make sure nothing is sticking out.

I have heard that Galvanized Wire can cause UTI's easily. The wire rusts easily especially with gliders urinating on it and it's exposure to water when being washed. Then they rub on these areas and the the rust and/or urine can cause UTI's. I think that's how I heard it explained. Someone else will give more information since I'm not the most educated on Galvanized Wire.

Very nice cage he did a great job. Just one thing I would like to say. I pic number four you see the corner. Open end wire. I would suggest putting a board in the corners and over the wires to hide the ends. That way they can't get cut or pry it out and get out. Just a suggestion.

That's exactly what I heard that it causes UTI's from the rust.

Electroplated is different than dipped galvanized wire. This is electroplated and it will take a very long time to rust by which time we can replace it with stainless.
