As I've said before I've been looking for a friend for my 2 year old Suggie, Tazz and with no luck.

Well yesterday, my luck changed!

I was on a local classifieds site and found not 1 but 2 gliders for sale. They are $400 for both and they look to be healthy and well taken care of. The cage they were in is big and very clean.

This is a bonded Male/Female pair and I was wondering if that is going to cause any problems with introductions? The male is not neutered and as far as the person knows there is no joeys on the way.

I'll be getting them hopefully in about 6 weeks once I have them all paid off and have made my new cage.

I've read up on introducing them and everything and feel confident everything will go well, I'm also planning on getting both boys neutered and doing a wellness checkup with my vet for all 3.

*edited for spelling

It won't work. You have one single adult male glider, and two adult male/female bonded gliders and they will not mix. The males (even if you have them neutered) will fight. You would have a better chance if you just held out for a female or two and to be totally honest, $400 is more than a bit high for a rehoming fee.

That's my problem.... quite literally there are no other gliders in my area and no forums that can help me find one. The only place I might have some luck is in Toronto but I have no way of getting there and bringing a glider on a bus or train is not a good idea.

$400 may seem a bit much, but considering I paid $250 for Tazz it's worth it. I might take them anyways and just get a second cage... see what happens and go from there. Worst comes to worst, I end up with 2 cages!

Where are you located? Maybe I can help you track something down. Have you tried craigslist?

Obviously, if you are willing to accept the concept of two different cages then there isn't a problem. But your little guy will still be alone and still in need of a companion. I can tell you right now, in all honesty, you have an EXTREMELY small chance of putting them all together. But if you don't mind having two colonies then go for it!

Sad to say that it fell through and she has decided to keep them

Any help finding one would really be appreciated! I'm in Belleville, Ontario, Can. I've tried every online classified I can find and right now I'm thinking about looking for a breeder but I don't want to end up pay $450 for a joey from a breeder when I know somewhere out there, one of these little guys needs a home.

Dahlia is correct in that is it never a good idea to have 2 males and one female - even if both males are neutered. They can and do still mate after neutering and will fight for the right to mate with the female. Since the male and female pair are already bonded, you would be putting your little male in danger by trying to introduce them.

It is always best to have more females than males in a colony. Or an all male or all female colony. I hve 4 gliders - 3 females and 1 neutered male and that combination works very well.

Keep looking - you will find the right glider with a little patience. I would suggest having him neutered and getting female. A male/female pair will normally bond with no problems.

So I now have even better news! I have posted up a couple ads and have actually been getting replies!

There is a set of standard grey twins that just came OOP yesterday for $300, WFB twins that should be OOP in the next 2 weeks for $500 and I was offered a female who will be weaned and ready to go in about 3 weeks for $280 (That's including delivery).

I'm not sure which ones I want yet, but I'm sure I'll decide soon. Any suggestions as to which would probably be best?

Also the girl who had the 2 bonded gliders said she hasn't found any for me as of yet but she is willing to go to a convention in the GTA and ask around for me and then if someone has one that I want to adopt she will pick him up next time she goes down

UPDATE!!!!

I have got the pics of the little girls and have decided to go with the older joey... I figure that although it would be cute and exciting to have 2 twin girls, I would rather find Tazz a friend sooner rather than later.

She says that she is going to hold her for me for a 25% deposit and I can have her at the end of November or later if she takes her time weaning. Parents are 3 and 1/2 yrs old and have had no health problems.... She looks like she is growing fast, and is gonna be big, so size difference shouldn't be a problem...

I'm so excited to get my little girl I can't wait for checkups and quarantine to be over with so her and Tazz can meet and HOPEFULLY fall in love <3

Wish me luck!

Good for you! That's not too much $, nor is it too long to wait; and Tazz will be so much happier with a buddy. Luck!

You could name them after another Looney Tunes character. There's:
Petunia [Petunia Pig, Porky Pig's girlfriend]
Lola [Lola Bunny, Bugs Bunny's girlfriend]
Melissa is also a Daffy Duck girlfriend.. but a little too human of a name in my opinion. I love the name Lola though! Just an idea. Sad that those are the only female Looney Tunes characters... besides Granny.

I was totally thinking about Lola! I've always loved that name, but I think I'm going to wait to name her... I think you're right and she would probably end up the opposite of what I name her lol
