Hello, it's me asking another question, again.. also a suggie life update

Okay, I have been seriously considering building a sugar glider "habitat" outside. It would just be something that is suitable for sugar gliders to play in. I am NOT going to leave them outside I was just thinking, I love going outside, my gliders love when i take them outside in a pouch, and during the day when they wake up for snacks they enjoy to look out the window.
I would like to be able to bring them outside so they can play and get fresh air when it's nice and only for a little while. I however refuse to bring them outside without them being in something.
Has anyone made something like this?
Is it acceptable/okay to do this? Any ideas/tips?

Also, suggie update, today their new cage came in after a weeks wait it is nearly 6 ft tall and very big, a good size for a trio I believe. My babies were confused when I woke them up in the middle of the day to move them to adifferent cage. By they were very happy when they were given juicy watermelon and sent to bed. Baby Jitter Bug is also doing very very well. I think he is beginning to like me a lot because henever cries when I hold him unless his parents disturb him then run away without him. He also lives when I rub his tummy and falls fast asleep. Who knew you could love three little creatures so much?

You could use a mesh tent outside I spose.

Personally, I'm not a fan of taking mine outside but not for the reason you probably think

I have done far far farrrr to much research on parasites, the potential for my gliders getting parasites from out side is probably slim but still enough for me to not take them outside.

I HAVE taken joeys outside for a few minutes to take pics on tree branches when they were young and not very mobile or quick. But I would never put them on the ground or in the grass.

Parasites can be hard to detect even with fecals, hard to treat, and for me it's just not worth the risk.

Gliders can get parasites in other ways without going outside as well, but if I can eliminate even one source I def would.

I also wouldn't take them out during the day, I live in fla it'a to bright and its to hot. Gliders can and do over heat, and mine don't care for lights being on or sunlight they'd likely stay in the pouch or in my clothes, and be even hotter.

So if I were to do outside time, it'd be at night, in a inspected, secure mesh tent, not in the grass lol

I'm sure folks that have screened in florida rooms outside take their gliders out, but for me it's to much of a hassle and I'd constantly be worried, much easier to just open a window behind their cage lol.

I am not saying you can't take them outside, if its something you want to experience with them just use common sense. Pay attention to the temps if it's above 80 I'd keep em inside, have water with you for them and if the gliders get wet they are likely sweating and need to be taken inside...

Yes of course, the only times I bring them outside in a pouch is around sunset because it's cool enough but not cold and not too bright. I was possibly thinking that bringing just a tent you'd go camping in, the bottom is covered and sealed so there wouldn't be any risk of them getting in the grass?

I never thought about the parasite thing. Now I'll be very cautious if I ever do bring them outside. It won't be often or for a super long time. Thank you for opening my eyes, lol.

Their cage isn't close to a window otherwise that would be a great idea. Maybe one day I'll just open my window and get them out to go sit by the window. (It's screened in so no escaping).

A regular tent would be fine at that time of day, as long as you inspect it before each use for any holes or gaps they can get out of.

People have taken their gliders camping before, some went fine, I know of one or two that lost a glider that was never found.

Parasites are usually lurking in tall grass, which mine isn't , fla grass is barely considered grass at all lol and I am probably over cautious about it because of how easily it can be spread and how difficult the treatment and cleaning ritual is what a night mare!! but it is still a potential that most people don't think of.

There is this one lady that takes her gliders outside all the time, not like your talkin in a confined safe space but outside wide open. She posts videos on facebook sometimes.

She has them clicker trained, she sets up obstacle courses and gliding platforms for them and they glide and run and are the most bonded gliders I've ever seen, it's amazing to watch. I seriously have the utmost respect for her and the time it must have taken to train and bond and the trust she has with her gliders, I don't work and spend a lot of time with my gliders and we are no where near that level

Most of the the time they aren't on the ground, but the few times they were all I could think of is parasites
