I will update you all when I have a name picked out. Nov 5, 2009 The name game Posted by: sugarbearclaireI'm the girl who has been waiting 14 years to get a sugar glider, this is my story. Ha ha, sorry for the cheesy start, but I truly have been wanting a sugar glider for a very long time now. Just yesterday my mom and me were sitting at dinner and she said you can have one, so I said what are you talking about? And the next words that came out of her mouth made me want to jump out of my seat and dance. She said, you can get the sugar glider. I sat for a few seconds in silence, then I got out of my seat and gave my mom a great big hug. I'm now preparing for my new baby glider that I will be getting in a few weeks. The suspense is building and I'm getting more exited by the day, but there is one thing I'm dreading... the name game. The most scary thing a pet owner has to face when getting a new pet. So many names out there, I just cant decide. I hope you've all enjoyed my first ever journal entry. Nov 3, 2009 1 month + 9 days Posted by: P-NutI was worried for a while because my gliders just werent eating much of their food. one night they didnt eat ANYTHING! But i came up with a new routine. I feed them the fruits an veggies at night. ( they end up eating either all of it or most of it) then in the morning when i wake up..They are still up.. ( i think waiting for me for feed them) then i feed them the hpw diet with my fingers... then i pour some in the middle of my hand so they can climb on me an lick it eaier. Im hoping this way they wont be afraid of me. They still only seem to want to bite me when they are in heir pocuh.. or in a corner in the bathroom. But never when their out in their cage. or on me. i give them 6 hours of play every night (out of their cage) which is alot! but.. sometimes they fall asleep.. even though its night time) I think its because the girls are scared. I think the male is just cold. My bedroom is COLD~! i dont know why. Its just that room. I just wish the girls werent so scared of me still and that Sly would bond with me more. He trusts me. He just never.. hangs around me. I let him out a hell go run away an hide somewhere. or sleep. I use to try to bond with him in his pouch ( carry him around all days ) but it seemed to keep him up all day an annoy him to the point where everytime i walk by him, hes yell at me. ( but never bite) so i dont know? im confussed. When he sees me feeding him an he WANTS the food.. hell screaM AT ME.. then eat the food. then scream ( even tho he knows im getting him more food) then hell eat it. DOES THE SCREAM ALSO MEAN>>> GIVE ME MORE FOOD> like a baby when their hungry? hope so. cuz he seems happy when hes eating. but making an annoyed noise. weird. haha.Im also hoping that just ebcause the girls always are together and sleep together that it wont be hard for them to bond with a human. I know their not like birds ( once they get a friend they ignore the human) but it just seems that way..?? (prays things will get better) the girls DO seem more active at night. everytime i go in the bathroom they are climbing on the roped an on the counter. so thats good. Oct 30, 2009 I got my first sugar glider. Posted by: ilovemysugarlipsI got my first sugar glider today! It was amazing, it was so exicting, finally getting one after so much rescreach and waiting 6 months, finally got one. I called the lady, and found this one that amazed me. This special sugar glider (sugarlips) has 3 legs, and one deformed paw, with just one claw, it's basically a numb. I fell in love with sugarlips just over the phone. Every thing needs love, noone wanted her because of her numb. I thought that was cruel. She's adorable, and can do everything that other gliders can do, without one paw. I absouletly love her. (of course one will get an extra treat here/there) And I was wondering this morning if it's rude to pick a favorite. Neither of them is really my favorite forever, just until it bites me, and then the other's my favorite. -And then when that one bite's me the other's my favorite again, lol. Much better then I thought they would go. She enjoys going on small adventures in the bathroom, since it's the number one safe place for her to play in. On to starting out: Explore- Do research, try things(within reason) Build- Make your own cage! I have seen "Glider Mansions" for $1,499.99 DON'T DO IT! Make one your self! HOWEVER MANY WOODS AND SUBSTANCES ARE TOXIC AND/OR DEADLY TO GLIDERS. Douglas Fir is a great wood for building cages. Experiment- with foods learn about meal worms!(they bite) I got a general consensus of 50% protien, 25% fruits, 25% veggies Baby food works well (chicken & turkey) there are many recipies out there in short GOOGLE!!!!!!!!!! Well any advice or references to further my education is greatly apprieciated! |
