 Heart in My Throat...

Posted by: RChurch
-----
...I am so nervous right now. Going to meet my potential future babies tonight. That's right: we may be adopting more sugar babies to spoil. I hope they like us and if we do get them, I hope all of my babies get along so we can have one big happy colony. If not...I'll have two happy colonies and I'll be alright with that.

So nervous. Been looking forward to this all week! Been praying over this, tormented over this for about a month now. I even dream of them at night! But I will repeat what I've been telling myself for awhile now: "If it is God's will, let it be. If not, give me the strength to let it go."

I find myself questioning myself in all areas. Am I a good enough mom? Am I lacking in any areas? How can I improve myself? I don't know if I am a good mom...but I do my best. I hope I am.

Well, those of you reading this: wish me luck. And if you love me, pray for me. Not that I get them, necessarily, but that they get the home that is best for them. (Although, if I am going to be honest with you as well as myself, I am hoping I am what's best for them. "Pick me! Pick me!" :D)

Five or six more hours to go....My heart is in my throat.

 New Home for Zeke

Posted by: jandrasek

Zeke was born in February of this year, I just got him home tonight. He seems to be responding well to me. I've gotten different fruits and veggies along with regular hard diet for him. He doesn't have a problem with me petting him in his cage whether he is eating or just playing around. He has sniffed me several times and seems to be getting to know my scent. His territory marking is quite smelly right now as I don't know his diet up to now. He hasn't nipped at me, but has sniffed, grabbed my finger and put his teeth around my finger. Never bitten down hard though. Is there any recommendations for bonding with him since he isn't a joey anymore. This is my first sugar-glider.

I can't find anything on the forums or on any search engines about this:
My Joey is constantly itching himself. It seems like way more than any suggie ive seen. Is there something wrong with him? He's perfectly happy besides itching. He doesn't have any weird symptoms. He has a great diet. He's clean/smells good. What's the problem?

 Awaiting my gliders anxiously

Just set up the cage I purchased from the breeder I am getting my two gliders from. It was pretty easy to set up, I thought setting up the cage would be really hard to do but it's harder waiting for the gliders to be ready to bring home. Well hopefully by sunday or monday they'll be ready for me to bring home. Until then I get to stare at an empty glider cage and vision what my little buddies will be doing when I bring them home. I CANT WAIT!

 Stressed baby stressing me out!

I have one sugar glider who is extremely mean that I got already aged from a local pet store because I felt bad about his living conditions. I still don't know the official gender because the lady said he's a male but he's rather large and does not have a scent gland and either he's neutered or it's a female. I've never had a problem with Him(Thor) barking at night before, until last night. Yesterday I acquired a new baby suggie just out of pouch. I forget how many weeks but he's tiny. So far he(Loki) has been extremely good with me and my boyfriend . And actually chooses us over his seperated cage from Thor.

He did good the whole day we had him yesterday. I never once left him alone. Then when it got late and I was settling down for the night I decided it was to chilly in the room because the air vent was aimed on the cage. He has a heat rock in there but I didn't like the idea of a cold wind . So I placed his cage in the closet because it's nice and warm in there. Well the problems started there. He was crying alllllll night. Not barking, but his normal soft baby sneeze/crab noise that joeys have. Thor, who is always quiet began barking all night too..it's morning now and even though I'm holding Loki, he is still crying. What is the problem?!?

 New Sugar Glider Owner...Early days!

Posted by: pippinsmummy

I have just become a new sugar glider mummy to a breeding pair of 2 year old gliders. While they were well looked after, the owners had trouble bonding with them - we're up for the challenge!

After a shakey few days of settling in, the female (who was the grouchyest) is now accepting food from me, crabbing inbetween mouthfuls, not really knowing wether to be happy or mad at me being there! The male is more timid however he will let you stroke him without being bitten!

Here's some pics..

 2 Months!

August 6th will be two months! W00t! But oh boy do I still have some bonding to do with two of them. Funny story! I took Loki into my room so she can get a bit more of my scent. She ran on to the floor and started exploring my room. She came upon my drum set and stood right in front of my bass drum which was a clear plastic covering. She then proceeded to run into the bass drum and bounced off of it. It was hilarious. She immediately got up and just starred in confusion. She's not allowed near it anymore.

 Success!

*side note* its been about a week and a half since my 3 girls had eaten more than a couple pieces of fruit.
So i jotted down what i fed them each day for two days (i thought it was gonna take me longer lol), and how much i fed them of each thing, the hpw, the fruits, the veggies, and a couple mealies (which are usually eaten mostly by Adelaide heehee my lil' piggy). Day 1 i thought hey why not give them their fave fruit with their fave veggie! Apples and peas. Everything was given in the normal amount i wrote down when i first started this diet. Some fruit was eaten! yay! I still wasn't completely happy. Day 2, i decided to give them a new fruit (with some apple in case they didn't like it), cherries. With less HPW, and less peas. EVERYTHING was eaten! i was so happy! I think they were just getting full off their favorite things to eat first and just had a small piece of fruit (fruit's important!). I must have been putting a little too much of veggie and HPW. Over all i'm glad they ate everything. (:

 My Baby Boo.

Posted by: Peek-a-Boo
-----
Thursday, we brought our little Boo home, who is my first Sugar Glider. She's extremely sweet, and I definitely didn't expect to make so much progress in bonding with her so soon! It's definitely extremely rewarding, and I'm just unbelievably happy. I've been sleeping half the night (and most of last night) in her room, and sometimes I'll wake up and she's looking at me through the bars of her cage, sniffing. She barked quite a bit on Friday, although she didn't do it as much last night. :) I've been singing to her, reading books to her, and the like, and I'm so glad that she doesn't seem TOO frightened. I've gotten her out in her pouch and in a towel, and she's done so well...she'll crab for a bit, and then today she curled up and fell asleep when I had her against my chest.

The most shocking thing today was that she allowed me to pet her twice, and sort of half-pick her up, and she didn't bite, crab, or lunge! I'm so happy. I definitely didn't expect to be able to pet her anytime soon, and it's just so rewarding that she seems to be realizing, "Okay, she's not going to hurt me."

Mostly, I'm just happy. Today has been a good day, and I'm so glad and proud of Boo.

 My Silly Little Boy

Posted by: Alybear
-----

My little Stitch is far smarter than I give him credit for! One night I was woken up by a loud thud. I wasn't sure what it was but it was coming from the corner of the room by my dresser. When I got up, I realized that my softball trophy had been knocked down. When I picked it up and looked on my dresser, there he was. Behind my jewelry box sat my little boy. :)
