I had to run a service call to fix a computer today at the Memphis TN Agricenter (http://www.agricenter.org/ ) and while looking for my customers office I had to walk through a holiday shopping show going on this weekend... well, what do I see but a booth from Pocket Pets, and worse yet!!! I hear the sales creeps chatting up a couple old ladies telling them how sugar gliders are simple easy pets to care for that get along great with other animals and are simple to feed with the pellet diet they sell... AND!!! They make GREAT holiday gifts for your grandchildren

SO..... I am trying to think what I can do to cause some trouble and make it hard for them to make any sales without actully getting arrested this weekend... any ideas? For one I plan to make some fliers with info about suggies to hand out outside the agricenter if I can get away with it.

Probably all you can do legally is give information. You have every right to tell people your opinion and experiences. Maybe a flyer is helpful for people that have already purchased them. You could put some basic info and weblinks or something and STRONGLY urge them to do their research? It's such a tough situation when you have to choose betwee' causing a scene and trying to inform people of what they're getting into. 'Tis the season for greedy SOB's.

Perhaps gather and print some testimonials from people that have had bad experiences with them.

Hand out flyers telling they are not pets for kids..should be at least 18 or older....that they are noctunal and sleep all day..out late at night till wee hours...must have attention...must have a cagemate..alone=depression...need exotic vets....poo and pee ALOT...must clean cage, pouches and fleece min. once a week..sometimes two or three times...truth about diet...recomend BEFORE they buy to come to this site and read read read....

Heh! Breeders wasn't exactly the word I had in mind

But that is a good idea, so on that note if anyone on here has gotten a suggie from them please do share any horror stories you have.

There was someone on GC with a pamplet they made up with cages, diets, bonding, ect to hand out at places like this. Let me see if I can get ahold of it for you.

knowledge is power!!! Maybe take one in a pouch and go out there and just talk to people. You would be surprised how easy it is to talk to people about them. I start with diet and tell people they cannot eat people food. That they do have a diet. And then tell them that they aren't really for kids to just toss around then tell them that they play all night and bark and it usually ends there. You can usually tell if someone will make a good pet owner or not. And maybe facehugs can find out about those papers for ya.

Skia, take a picture of your glider room. That will make people think you're either crazy or hopefully get to reconsider an animal that they may not have room for.
