I don't know if she is dying from joey births but I will tell you, as horrible as this sounds, yes, its sounds like she is infact dying from something. Animals will act strange when they are sick but when they get to this point, its usually the end of the road. Chances are that if you do not get her to a vet - even if you have to drive two hours away, she might not make it to see tomorrow. I hate to be so negative but everyone is going crazy trying to help you find a vet because I don't think there could be more of an emeregency here than what I've read. If you can't find an exotic vet open, there has to be an emergency hospital somewhere open. If they told me they wouldn't take exotics, I'd show up anyways with her and the babies and set them down on the counter and plea with them. You'd be surprised what they can do --- even finding you an exotic vet if they have to. Its alot easier to tell you no over the phone than it is when you are right in front of them. If they see first hand how she is acting, maybe they will call some places for you and they can get advice from other vets on how to treat her. I'd try just about anything at this point. She needs help right now! I'm so sorry you are going through this. Let us know what happens.
Call his ladie she is VERY knowledgable and has raised gliders for years. Her name is Suz Enyede For emergency help (especially with joeys), please call 440-520-4799. If no answer, please leave a message so I can return your call.
Nothing yet! I keep checking. I am about to take my daughters to a church concert thing... I will be back later... hopefully there will be some sort of news by then.
Thank everyone so much for caring. I knew yall would. right when all this happend yesterday i made sure to sign on here and ask everyone what i should do because i knew you guys would help.
the update is not so good. yesterday was probably the worst day i have ever had. really.
i found an exotic vet in dothan al about 30 min away. and while we were about to leave momma pokey diedin my hands petting her... my house was a wreck. i tried to hold it together for daddy pepper. bc he was looking almost exactly how she did when i found her. he was atleast drinking water. so me and my boyfriend packed pepper and the two babies up to go to dothan. the babies died on the way. but pepper made it there and got two shots one of antibiotics and one of fluids he needed for the day. the doctor said it had nothing to do with the joeys. pepper and pokey just caught something. and the joeys just got out of her pouch to early because she was not producing any more milk. but the dr gave me some antibiotics to feed pepper twice a day for two weeks. this morning he looks pretty much the same : he can barely hold up his head, not eating, letting me hold him however (which this is totally not his personality). he is letting me feed him his antibiotics to him and water but no food yet..
thanks you again to everyone for the support. pray for pepper.
thank you. if anyone has any idea what i should feed him please let me know. he wont eat his mealies, treats, fruit, syrup, and ofcourse the pellet food.

Aaw, that's so sad! We'll be praying for Pepper's recovery, please let us know how he's doing. Try to get some NutriCal to feed him with a syringe. I've gotten it from my vet. If you can't find that today, some Ensure or Pedialyte at least to keep him hydrated. I don't know what you normally feed him, but if you have a small 5-cc syringe (check with any pharmacy, they should be very inexpensive or free) you can try putting his regular food into a blender with extra liquid (apple juice or water) to hand-feed him, at least until he's gotten over the infection. Just very small amounts, probably, several times a night to keep his strength up. And talk to the vet again!
I was very sad to read this update this morning. I am so very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how you must feel loosing all of them. You did good finding a vet, even though you had to search, and search you did find one. I know it sounds easy to some that a vet should be available, but with exotics it is ten times harder to find help on the weekend. We own Gliders and Parrots. Once we had an emergency on the weekend and had to drive 2 hours away to find an Avian vet that would see our parrot. There literally were none to treat birds on the weekend. Our vet was out of town. So, sweetie, I really do understand how frustrating it is to keep calling and calling and no be able to find help. Everyone just says, "we don't treat that type of animal". Please try to know in your heart that you did what you could do. I will be keeping you in my prayers.
thank you so much. and yes i called every stinkin vet in the my town which is like 6 or 7. NONE treated exotic animals better yet even knew what a sugar glider was! anyways thank you again
I am just broken hearted about what has happened!!! Was there no warning before your babies became severely sick that something was wrong? I am just sooooo sorry for your loss and the panic you must have felt. My prayers will be with you and your baby boy. Take care.
Thank you for the update on these babies. I'm so sorry for what you've dealt with these last few days. I can only imagine. As for Pepper, I'd show a lot of TLC and start searching for a cage mate. That little boy has lost so much in such a short amount of time. I will be praying for Pepper. Rest in peace mama and babies.
Im so sorry to hear about your day. Its never easy losing ones we love - even the tiny furry ones.
If he is dehydrated, give him some pedialite several times a day - but not the flavored kind. It has artificial sweetener in it. Keeping him hydrated is VERY important. Plain water wont do for him right now.
Boost and Ensure can sit on their tummies like clay if they are dehydrated. Even tho nutritious, until he is over this hump, its not a good choice.
Ali - I'm so sorry for the loss you've suffered. I'm glad Pepper is with you and hanging in there.
Thank you so much for coming back to let us know. Even though the update wasn't what everyone had hoped - we are still glad you came back to let us know.
