I have two neutured males (Calvin and Hobbes). They get along great and I never want to jeapordize their happiness. I dont plan on changing anything for a lonnngg time because I want to gain more experience but I was just wondering what yall though of getting them another friend? (in the future). Ive always been very interested in some of the color variations and I cant see how taking care of three is much different then two (assuming of course that they all get along). Which brings me to my last question, is it more likely that they wont get along? Or are gliders usually accepting of newcomers if you put a lot of effort into introductions. Again, I am just playing around with this idea, i just want some opinions thanks! :)

Unfortunately, there's no concrete answer. It simply depends on their personalities and if they like each other. I tried introducing 2 into my established colony of 6 with no success. I introduced a single, neutered male to 2 females with no problems at all. I've also introduced to males (father and son) to 2 females with no issues either. It's not usually advised to have more males than females either.

I don't think any one can answer this. We can only tell you our experiences! Because of course, every glider is different. Here's my experience!

I started with two neutered males. They were 1 1/2 years old when I got them. They have been together ALMOST their entires lives, just the two of them. Then I got a young female and started my intros (after quarantine of course) in february or march of this year. Needless to say, they are still not integrated. I had to eventually find another lone female and was able to successfully get the two girls together. So now, I have two cages with two gliders in each. I still try to let them all out at once every now and then, and yes, they still fight.

SO, that's my story. But maybe my gliders are just happy being in twos. Who knows!

I forgot to add the fact that it was my boys who would not accept the female. They wanted nothing to do with her. I knew she wanted a buddy SO BAD too, it was really sad. And NOW, she will go attack them and actually instigate fights! It's like, now that she has a buddy she wants to pick on the boys for being mean to her.

It's sad because I want more than 4 gliders, but I don't want more than 2 cages. So I can't accept any more gliders at this time. I don't think I will ever get my 4 together though, honestly. It's been 9 months since I started intros. And they are still seperated!

Thanks for sharing your experiances! I know there is no right or wrong answer to this question and I would love to hear more stories of success/failure on introductions. I am very interested in the process and want to learn as much as possible. From what tisha and kyro said I am leaning towards not getting another one tho. I dont think I want two seperate colonies, that would be very hard. Im really sorry it didnt work out for you tisha, I hope it does in the end!
