All the bonding pouches I had came with windows. I just ordered a new one, and it came without a window. I assume they can breathe okay even without the window. What do you think? Is a window necessary? Desirable?

Depends on who you talk to you. I made pouches, some for bonding, and none of which I made had windows. They're fine.

Some people INSIST that that's bad. My experience.. it's fine.

i like the window because they can come up and smell you and stuff and its easier to interact with them if there is a window....i always make the windowed ones!

Here's a picture of some of the bonding pouches I make with the pet safe screen:

I use the sturdy pet safe screen that you can pick up at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Just be very careful, because it is easy for gliders to overheat and die! Make certain, if you are going to use a pouch without a screen, that you give your gliders breaks for water. Also, I wouldn't recommend doing this in a location without air conditioning in the summer time.

Well if you worry about it not having a window you could go to your local craft store and buy a few metal grommets, that would allow for air circulation.

Strange, with 16 gliders in five different colonies, I've never had one chew. I think good air flow is important, though you do need to take each individual glider's behaviors into account when choosing a bonding pouch. Just remember to be really careful that they don't overheat in the summer without a window in the pouch...it really is a serious concern.

I also make my City Pouches, which look sort of like a small purse. There's a flap over the screen with a magnetic snap, for gliders who are disturbed by light that might come through the screen. I'm really so busy with work, I have not made one of these in months. However, here is one that I made for Sariyappa:

I have to add, though: my own gliders seem more disturbed by the flap on the City Pouch than the simpler bonding pouches without the flap! LOL! Goofy critters!

Wow! I really like the city pouch! My boys are definitely light sensitive. My cage is in my walk in closet which leads into my bathroom. When I go through and turn the bathroom light on, they freeze until the light goes out. They also will not play in the tent unless a very dim light is on, not a bright one.

Your pouches are very nice!

NICE pouches. What are your prices?

My girls wouldn't like a window so large, but they would HATE the city pouch because they literally poke their heads up and watch what's going on.

Thanks for your kind words. You can check out my stuff at www.mollsplayhouse.com for more info. I really didn't mean to post to try to sell. I am just really passionate about suggies! I get worried about them getting overheated/too cold, etc, so I wanted to post just to add my .02 worth. :-)
