Hey everyone we just finished our first tent time. All I can say is WOW!!! This is the best thing I've tried so far. Even my shy girl Trinity was all over me. I'm now full of little suggie scratches from them flying on and off me. They were all over me. We seem to have had a break through, I hope!! No crabbing for two days now. My babies are doing so much better then when I got them almost a month ago. When I first got them I could not tell if one of them was on my back. Now with their weight gain I know where they are on me. They were almost brown looking and now they are grey in color. Their belly fur was very yellow looking now it is almost white. The hair on their tails were flat, now they are fluffy. They eat everything I give them. Pickles even took a nap in my lap in the tent. Getting ready to start candy's blended diet as soon as ingredients come in.

That is wonderful news!!! Sounds like you are doing a great job with them. Tent time is the best as far as bonding since it forces them to interact with you.

Keep up the good work!!!

Tent time is when you take your gliders into a tent [you can also do this in a suggie proofed bathroom as 'bathroom time'] and let them run around. A tent is better because it's a smaller space and the gliders are forced to interact with you [they have to crawl on you to get to the other side of the tent, etc]. It's a good bonding tool. =]

Hi, I'm new to this whole thing but came across this page in my search for bonding ideas. I got into the tent with my sugar glider and he screamed ant me and ran back into his fleece. I was teerrified! I know I am a sissy! He really scared me :D I put him back into his cage.
I have only had him 2 weeks. I hold him everyday and pet him every chance I get.
All the Tent bonding I have read about makes it sound fabulous but I was scared of this tiny little screaming creature! Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

Tina: Not doing anything wrong. Just sit in the tent with the pouch. Try to entice him out with treats. If he doesn't come out, stay in for about half and hour and try again the next day. Take it slow. Crabbing can be scary, you'll get used to it soon though. =]

Also do you just have the one? Gliders should always be kept in pairs. So try to get him a cagemate soon. If you get one that wasn't housed with him previously, you'll have to go through quarantine. Post a new thread with any questions and we'll be happy to help! Welcome to the boards!

Nope in a real tent. =] All you do is take your suggies in the tent, zip it up so they can't escape, and let them crawl on you. It forces them to interact with you [like they have to crawl over you to get to the other side of the tent, etc].
