How much did it cost to get your gliders neutered?

edit:
I know each vet is likely to give a different price. I'm just looking for a general price range. I have no idea if it costs $20 or $200.

It varies by vet and location. You should call your vet/local vets to get an accurate estimate.

When calling around St Louis for a vet to neuter Benji, I got anywhere from $40.00 to $350.00. It pays to call around!

Some vets I had called wont give me an estimate unless I go in for a wellness check first. Another vet, that has never even heard of sugar gliders said they'd do it for almost 400 dollars and that was just for one suggie. Of course I turned it down, they needed me to spell out sugar glider that's what got me. haha. From what I've heard a neuter can range anywhere between 50- apparently 400 dollars haha...so deffinetly ask around. I dont want to invade your post with my question but has anyone used either Barnum animal hospital in CT, or Albany animal clinic in NY? If so, how much was it to get your suggies neutered?

So it's looking like it really is just a random price range. That's a shame. lol

I know how you feel Tina. I finally got another job so I'm saving up a few of my paychecks for my boys. Aren't they so lucky... haha. I guess they would be if I were spending it on something other than getting their balls snipped off :p

I think there was a poll done here regarding price ranges for neuters? That can give you an idea of the most common price I guess?

Ohh, could you link me to the poll? That'd be great. (:

And i've been considering getting a male glider.. but now I'm not so sure? I've been hearing neutered males have a better temperament than females and I figured a male and female would get along better than two of the same sex. With cost of neutering though I'm not sure whether I'd just rather get a female companion for my glider instead.

&Good luck to your little guys! :D

Temperament is truly something that varies from glider to glider, not necessarily gender to gender and such.

Although it DOES seem to hold true that temperament varies from intact male to neutered male, and IN FAVOR of the neutered male.

Most vets are going to want to see your gliders first for a wellness exam before they schedule a neuter. They have to deem they parasite free and healthy enough to have the surgery. You wouldnt want them to do it any other way.

I paid $189.00 with all fees (pom on). This was in Valrico Fl. But there is a Vet in Lakeland FL. that only charges $45.00 for the same things.

bholland7, can you tell me the name of the vet in Lakeland, Fl. I've had trouble finding an exotic vet here. South Georgia. The only one I've found is Kitty in Tallahassee.

Mine was free, but I know it at the vet's office they charge 65.00 for the wellness exam (which is required) 85.00 for the neuter and then 15.00 for the follow up exam.

Pleae check to see'how' they neuter because the low end price may be just tying them off until they fall off...Not recommended. And pretty painful too I'm guessing.

I actually did call around and the office I talked to said that the cost of neutering is $50 plus an $80 exam beforehand. For $140 total I'm guessing that's really not bad.

&thanks for the advice omis. If I actually do get a male i'll definitely be sure to ask how they neuter.
