RoseWithWings Posted - Yesterday : 11:45:13 PM I am now switching, my babies were eating the Instant HPW and they are turning brown as well quote:
Realize that Original HPW is way different than all the other versions of HPW, and my gliders look the same as all the good pictures and no fur cracking. However if you want to feed this diet it is a very good diet. THere are several you can pick from and the pictures are impressive of the change. ALso see the other post about the neutering because that will also cut out on the smell and the oil on your male glider. brit92 Joey MA, USA 14 Posts I'm so glad I came across this post, I was actually considering trying complete but not anymore, I had a gut feeling about it before I even started my research. I think if more people are experiencing this they should definitely bring it forward, its good for new owners and people like me who have been out of the glider loop for acouple years and suddenly find an overwhelming amount of "hpw diets".. sunRaeTX Glider TX, USA 125 Posts Wow, Brit! This post is old. This must have really been troubling you. Nice research . Thanks for bringing it back. NOWWW I understand what people say when they say "yellow fur". I'm like, what's yellow fur?? Now I know . Right now I have my baby girl on Candy's Glider Kids Staple #2 (Reduced Honey) from http://www.gliderkids-diet.com/Staple-Recipes.html
If I'm lazy or low on ingredients I will use HPW original, but I feel that the Glider Kids recipe is better. brit92 Joey MA, USA 14 Posts I didn't even realize how old it was until after I posted HAHA oops, but my babies health & diet are very important to me and being out of the glider world for so long it's like I have to start from square one. I still have a few weeks before I pick him up, just want to be prepared! I'm going through old threads on hpw complete and I really don't see much positive feed back....sigh. brit92 Joey MA, USA 14 Posts Haha that's so cute, I know it made me laugh, I actually think I'm going to do candys hpw version. It's basically what I did for my previous gliders with no negative results. She had suggested I add calcium and I was doing it ever since. Now I need to research how to replace a needle on a sewing machine so I can start making cage sets again, oh jeeze. Trial and error, I'm sure my sewing skills aren't up to par either haha. brit92 Joey MA, USA 14 Posts Ty :) I always Google and YouTube everything haha.
AmberLynn Joey USA 18 Posts I had this exact same thing happen when I switched all my babies over. They were on complete as well. LGRS is by far the best diet out of all the staples in my opinion. I have tried them all. My Suggies have been eating this for over 2 years now and are beautiful!! leelyn Joey 11 Posts So you are all saying that LGRS is better tha the HPW Complete? Now I'm getting confused!!! Everyone I talked to love the HPW Complete. I'm going to have to research this some more. shannonharrigan923 Joey USA 18 Posts Ok i am confused now also!!!! lol this is the diet i feed them. is it a good diet or should i consider something else??? Minnesota Zoo Fuzzy Wuzzy USA 1999 Posts The "HPW Complete" and "HPW Plus" are from Critterlove.com, HPW Instant from Exotic nutrition. They are pre-packaged the "HPW Instant" and "HPW Complete" are just add water, the "HPW Plus" you add the eggs, honey and bee pollen yourself. The OHPW and the Gliderkids staple recipes use the Wombaroo High Protein powder from Australia.(found at thepamperedglider.com, she has the fastest shipping and best price per ounce) For those interested in trying the HPW Complete or HPW Plus...you can go the crittelove.com web site and order free samples and just pay for the shipping(I think it was like $5) to see if your gliders will like it before you order big batch worth and find out they don't. sunRaeTX Glider TX, USA 125 Posts quote:
leelyn, you probably will have to do a bit more research before you can decide. I can't say I know exactly which diet is the "best", but I do have my glider on Candy's Glider Kids Staple #2 (Reduced Honey) from http://www.gliderkids-diet.com/Staple-Recipes.html
Candy is a well known member on this forum and is well educated upon gliders and their needs/behaviors. I have not researched every single diet that is existent for gliders, but from what I have seen and researched myself, Candy's diets appear to be the most fit to me. She even has a diet similar to hpw. She also has spreadsheets of all of the calcium, protein, etc. that each ingredient and fruit/veggie included in her diets hold, and can answer just about any question you have about her diets. I also picked this diet because it is affordable for me and is a diet I can realistically take time to make and serve . I think you should pick what YOU think is best for your babies.
