So I googled this and it turns out they are both correct. Grey is the original spelling, but gray is the American derivation of the original spelling. =]

I always use "gray" because my in-laws last name is "Grey" so it has a different meaning to me when I see it, although they're interchangeable.

Strange that I have never really thought about it but have used both according to what I was talking (or writing) about-lol. I think of gray spelling as more of when you are talking about colors like crayon or paint. And I think of grey when speaking about animals and such like "grey squirrel" or "grey" fox etc...

This is what I always thought. I also researched it and found the same thing.

grey is correct

I grew up in England - so that is one of many words which I confuse. I never can remember which is the English spelling and which the American. There are several words like that!

Grey just looks "right" to me.

Gray for me!
