Our beloved dog Boscoe was put to rest yesterday. He was a very old dog, and I honestly didn't think he would have made this long. He has suffered from bad arthritus for the past year and a half and was mostly blind and almost completely deaf. I believe he was about twelve or thirteen, so he had a long life, and I hope it was a good one.

We got him and Chessie as puppies when I was in middle school. They were best friends and lovers. We had one wonderful litter and decided to get them both fixed because we didn't want breeders, we wanted pets. Chessie passed away when I was in high school from an auto imune disease where her white blood cells attacked her red blood cells. So I know she was waiting for him at the end of that bridge with my Nanny who loved them both very much.

Even with the arthritus and the hearing/eyesight problems, he was the most loving dog. He always wanted to be with you and was always there with a big sloppy kiss. I'll miss him coming into my room and knocking down everything with his butt (he would loose control and his hips would give out on him causing him to knock down everything in his path-but we couldn't be mad at him because he was just to sweet!).

Chessie and Boscoe showed me true love that only a dog could show. Through pain and bad days-they were never unhappy. They never showed anything but a wagging tail and a smile in their eyes.

Thank you for letting me share their story. I just wish I could see the sight of him meeting his long lost friend.

Filly I did not want to cry again today darn it.

I'm so sorry about your doggie. I'm sure him and his bff are happily romping and playing in a great big field somewhere where doggies go. Amazing how our beloved aninals become our other best friends.

I'm sure he is missed. R.I.P. Boscoe and give Chessie a kiss from filly.

I'm so sorry. Having been thru this 4 times in the last 5 years with my older dogs, I certainly sympathize with your pain of losing two of the best friends you will ever have. <<hugs>>

Thank you guys. I am actually relatively okay with this. I had been preparing myself for awhile for it I guess. I also know that he is happy, and that he is not alone. Thankfully he did not go suddenly and did not go young. I think that is all we can all hope for-to live a good long life with no regrets and with close friends.

We put ours down last July and I know what you mean by kind of being OK with it. I just wanted her suffering to end. I don't do well with animals suffering..especially when we have the ability to stop it. Regardless, it is hard no matter what and Im glad you have such wonderful memories to keep with you.

That's a heartwarming story. It sounds like Boscoe had a very good life indeed. Dogs are so wonderful, they return tenfold every drop of love you give them. You can be sure he's with Chessie and Nanny, romping in the grass and patiently waiting for the rest of their beloved family.

We'll be going through the same thing with our dog Mike. He's about thirteen now, arthritic and slowing down. Not too soon, I hope.

Snusie-spend every moment you can with him and count each day as a blessing. Also we used a glocosomine (spelled wrong sorry) powder that helped slow down the arthritus a bit. If you need someone to talk to about this, I am here.

Filly, believe me, we do. He's pretty well indulged at this time of his life. He's a great dog. Thank you!
