I went to the Cincinnati Zoo today and took a picture of their sugar glider habitat. It's kind of interesting the way the exhibit is set up. Here is a pic.

It's pretty spacious and the gliders there were actually active this morning. Here is a pic of what their gliders look like.

Just thought it was kinda interesting.

It would be interesting to find out what they feed and how old these gliders are.

I definitely saw grapes and cateloupe in their bowl, but I have no idea what veggies or protein they use. And there are never keepers in the nocturnal house. I need to find out!

Each exhibit has a door in the back that they can get into. Some exhits are so big a person can actually walk into it. I don't think the suggie exhibit is that bit, but it's definitely big enough to maneuver around and clean.

WOW DATS REALLY COOL YOU CAN TELL THIS LITTLE PROJECT TOOK SOME TIME TO PEACE TOGETHER AND THAT THERE WAS PLENTY OF RESEARCH DONE.... THESE GLIDERS MUST BE HAPPY LIVING IN A GENERATED HABITAT SUCH AS THIS ONE...
THEY MUST HAVE DONE LOTS OF RESEARCH ON THE DIFFRENT TREES THAT ARE OK FOR GLIDERS, AND IT MUST HAVE BEEN HARD TO FIND THEM.... THE GOOD QUESTION AS MENTIONED B-FORE IS HOW IN THE WORLD DO THEY CLEAN DAT HABITAT.. DO THEY THROW ALL THE SHAVING AWAY? OR WHAT?

It looks to me as if the plants are actually a painted background so in essence all they have is a few branches top climb on.

LOL, who knows. It's actually funny because their exhibit is the darkest. All the other nocturnal animals have some lights on, but the sugar gliders are pitch black. I have to really let my eyes adjust to even see the suggies!

What is that on the floor? Some kind of wood shavings?

We don't have "regular" sugar gliders at the Columbus Zoo but there are some feathertail gliders in a small exhibit with some bats. I never was too sure about that combination but they seem to do okay together.

The Cincinnati Zoo has feather-tail gliders too.. but they're not in with the bats. They have an exhibit all their own. Oddly enough, the bats are in with the aardvarks and a bushbaby. The vampire bats are off by themselves though. Ick.
