Could they possibly be talking about a bird? I know you clip birds wings so they can't fly. It is painless as you only cut the feathers. But a glider???? They don't fly, they jump! They are going to jump with or with out "wings". They will just fall harder.

I can't even imagine what clipping a gliders' wings would involve. I can't imagine anything that horrible!

Man! Ok seriously - I'm VERY anti-leash, but if my choice was clip or leash - I'd choose leash!

omg... I think I'm honestly going to be sick thinking about how much that would hurt for a poor little glider....

I don't even support cropping ears or tails on dogs... and that almost put me to tears

To my horror, they told me the gliders "wings" had been clipped!!! This is nothing short of absolute Glider cruelty. There is no reason to clip a gliders gliding membranes or wings as they are sometimes called. Please, please, please do not clip your gliders wings or support anyone who does.

Im not even sure such a thing is possible or how the animal could go about surviving having its skin ripped off. I think it's just the usual Craigslist trolls and idiots.

I wouldn't necessarily say it involves ripping the skin off. Think about it, if the membrane is stretched out, all it takes is one snip down the center. This would then leave two folds of skin on each side. Though it would seem to me that the skin would end up hanging loose.

But real or not the thought is just horrifying.

Oh my God... I don't want to even think about it. But I'm also wondering the same thing as Kazko... I don't see how they could survive it.

I remember hearing something last year on this forum about a particular situation where the gliders' ears and tails were "docked" in order to make them into little "chinchillas"... but I think this one is even worse, assuming that it could possibly be true. I can't even imagine...

I hope it's just the "Trolls trolling" but if it is true, bring 'em to me, I great with a set of hedge clippers and see how they like being "clipped"!!! I had a friend who had a Doberman that did not look right but he could not have the tail docked and the ears clipped so he left her as natural. The things idiots would do. Oh for a little Darwinism to come along and "trim" the defectives out of the human herd! I know, a bit over the top but sometimes, you just gotta say it.

This is horrible! I also hope it was just trolling.

BTW I also don't agree with clipping a birds wings. Birds were meant to fly and should be provided with a safe area where they can do so. I can't imagine my boy being happy if he could not fly! Just my 2 cents worth.

I get my birds feathers clipped because she flies too high in the house. It's an attitude adjustment for her. She thinks she's all that until she goes for a day at the birdie beauty salon(lady who clips her feathers). If she were to get out, she'd fly off and get lost and confused because all rooftops look the same. If she can't fly high, she'll stay around my home. It's just 3 feathers on each wing to keep her down a bit. And keep her safe.

Omis, that is not what I am talking about. Trimming IS different than clipping. I am talking about clipping their wings so that they can't fly at all. It's bad for them psychologically and could put them in danger if they did ever get out or even on the floor.
