 Suggies at home

Found a very good Malaysian Forum. Will be checking it out to see if it is still active. Called in a vet and checked if they treated and did regular check ups for sg and insisted on making an appt with the most experienced doc. Since he is the head doc in their practice, have to make an appt early as i want my baby to get the best even if it regular check up and more costly as he is the head doc.

 Natural diet

I have decided to not opt for additional man made formula for Tinker and keep her going on fruits and youghurt including dried fruits occasionally as I met a friend whose glider is six years old and totally healthy and only needs to go to the vet for nail clipping. He gives veggies on a wile as he believes every over the counter food has some sort of perservative and a sugar glider does not get vitamin supplements or over the counter food in the jungle. He told us when he got his baby, he did not even know how to use the internet and gave all natural and did not give any extras and believe me, she looks good and active with beautiful skin and still the same colouring. He has only one glider and after 6 years, she has not self mutilated so having seen a healthy glider personally, I have decided to follow a guy who managed to keep his pet healthy without over the counter food or supplements.

 HPW and Gliderade

Posted by: pushpabhawan
-----
I have read some sites saying HPW is an excellent high protein diet and some say don't as their gliders fell sick after a couple of years. Bought it and stopped immediately as soon as I read this and now bought Gliderade and when I tried to give the HPW with fresh fruits, Tinker won't even touch her meal. I got her gliderade as an extra supplement and I mix it with her youghurt (1/4) spoon and give her twice a week and she loves it. Now I just read that it is only to be given as a treat. Being a first time SugarGlider mom, all this some say good some say bad is really stressing me out. Please let me know if any glider feel ill or died with 5 years of consuming these diet and I would really love to be in touch with a mommy or daddy who has had their suggies for about 10 years as I would be comfortable following your method if your baby lived at least 10 years with u as you are definitely doing something right. I will be taking my baby for her first vet check up this week as eventhough we are not totally bonded, she is not uncomfortable with me and feels save to be around me so I will be able to calm her down. These are living beings and I truly believe no one should market a product that can make any animal ill. Please help!

 problems with bonding

My younger sister got a sugar glider for her birthday and literally never held him(Seymour) and after a week of staying in his cage and never being touched, she was hospitalized for almost three full weeks. I fed him and gave him yogurt treats, but I didn't want him to bond to me, because he wasn't mine. When she got back home she asked if I wanted him. I obviously said yes, because I was the one who wanted one in the first place. Its been about three months since hes been officially mine and ive bonded with him every day for hours and hours and I still don't feel like hes bonded to me. I got him a larger cage about three days ago and put tons of toys in it and got him a wodent wheel(which he LOVES) but I feel that he isn't fully bonded to me. I put a shirt that I wear a lot in his cage for him to nest in and he loves it, but he wont let me pet him for very long before he trys to bite me. I feel like we are merely acquaintances and not life long companions like we should be. Am I doing something wrong, or is it jut going to take a while for him to fully trust me since he went almost a month without bonding to anyone? Im so worried. Please help):

 HELP!!!

Today while I was gone I don't know why but I had issues with 3 out of my 5 gliders... :(
one of my sugar Gliders (Sheila) got her back foot stuck in the corner of her bag. Her foot is now going to need to be amputated, does anyone know how that is going to affect her? Am I ever going to be able to put her with another glider? Or should I leave her by herself?

And I have a brother sister pair together and today both of there tails have been chewed on. The boys is rubbed raw and the girl chewed hers to the bone, both towards the back. What would cause them to do that? Should I separate them? how do I keep them from continuing to do that? It's the first tome I ever had any of my gliders do this...

I feel positively awful, if anyone has any ideas of what I could do it would b greatly appreciated... thanks

 Tinker got a play pen

My husband build a playpen with pvc and mesh and my baby is super tiny in such a huge place. Now she is too busy with her play pen and is not really bonding with me during her playtime. Lol. Well at least we have come a long way as she keeps running under my legs and climbs all over my back. My husband's baby girl is a tiny thing and is warming up to me as well. We are introducing them during playtime. Tinker being the only baby born and being handled by humans apart from her parents before I got her is taking time to warm up with Susu (my hubby's glider). She practically runs away when the little one hops towards her. They are super cute and gorgeous.

 Tinker Bell

Just got back from temple and Tinker is fast asleep in my palm. She loves her yoghurt and papayas. She won't eat her high protein Hpw diet so she is pretty much on fruits and yoghurt (for protein). She just woke up and jumped out of my hand to do her business and had to catch her to prevent her from going behind the shelves. Got her into my shirt pocket and she crabs when I try to get her out to put her back in her cage. My Tinker crabs when her sleep is disturbed which sounds very much like grumbling. lol. The gd part is that she is not afraid of me anymore and hopefully she will trust me soon enough as i cannot wait to have her comfortably sit in my hand when wide awake.

April 22, 2013.....the night went well....trying to get their clocked changed a little bit just so we can spend a little more time with them just an hour more....they are coming up to the front of the cage more still skidish just by looking at them they are hard to tell apart but you can tell by personality Sage always goes back to the pouch and Willow tends to just go to the corner and sit there and watch....THEY do NOT like the cat and dog looking at them lol...they will start to bark so I think that at night we are going to move the dog and cat out of our room but IDK yet....I'd like for them to live all together happy but we shall see....OH I did get them in a bonding pouch today and yes they did bite me a little but all in all it was a good day!!

My 9 week old sugar glider

My Tinker Bell has been with me for 2 weeks and sleeps in my palm but takes off as soon as she wakes up. She does not come to me when I put my hand in her cage. When hubby goes near, she runs towards me which gives me pleasure in knowing her trust in me is slowly building. When I did more pouch bonding, she tried to bite me. Finally took her in my hands and did cupping between my palms and she stopped crabbing and biting. Guess touch is definitely better than smell as I touched her a lot from outside the pouch and it didn't work.

When hubby brought his girl home, I told him to not leave her for a day or two and the next morning he did take her in his hands and she warmed up quite well.
