 About My Glider

Posted by: GlidersAreCool231

I got my joey bandit in September 2010. He is growing more and more since I got him he is a healthy joey according to the vet. He always jumps on to me when I put him down. He goes crazy over plants and bugs that goes in front of him. He loves exploring everywhere. He loves being in a socks without mates and being in my pocket. Sometimes he wakes me up in the middle of the night barking for food or attention because i haven't got him a mate yet. He looks like a normal glider a pure black stripe down his back the rest is gray a hint of yellow on his belly and wide black eyes.

I first started using this website yesterday. I have found it very helpful and the people are very nice. After reading up on the food and how pellets are bad for gliders. I am wondering which diet you think would be best for my glider. I have been reading up on it and so far i am leaning more twards the kascos diet. but if anyone has any further suggestions i really really could use some advice and thank you!!!!

Hi, I'm Angie (: I have a gliderCENTRAL account, but I'm looking around and doing as much research as possible before I finally get a glider. I know ALOT of stuff about them already, and I know enough to keep them healthy! I know about the different diets, housing, glider proofing my house/room, bonding, safe and unsafe toys, unsafe foods, etc. And I have everything set up and waiting, I just need the pet!! I am still looking to adopt two gliders, so if anyone needs to rehome their little guys in Missouri or neighboring states or if you're willing to ship/rail road them, just let me know! thanks bye for now!

 My sugar glider herd's adventures

Hello, let me introduce myself, I'm Shaw and this is a tale like no other, why no other you may ask because it is my tale and there for unique. I have several gliders--> Trouble & Lulu, Sully & Willow, Sukie & Bill, Bella & Edward and Peter & TinkerBell.
Trouble is a very loving lionhead who will climb down my shirt and curl up into a ball sleeping the day away, his mate Lulu loves to run over during play time, bite my toe and then look up as if to say "haha" before running away. They have had two joey's Kong named by my son after king kong and Sacha named by myself after my crazy hand surgeon.

 Introduction time yay!!

Hi everyone so ive made up my mind and i think its time to introduce my gliders... I have a male named binki ..had him since he was a joey and that was now four years ago.. About eight months ago i purchased baby blair... Meaning shes now around 10-11 months of age... She has gotten big but ofcourse as the male binki is still a bit bigger... Over the long months i would switch their pouches and toys and about. Four mo ths ago i placed the cages near each other for them to see one another.. That first day she crabbed at him ... But i havent heard it since their always running around and looking at each other i noticed that my male is extremely curious about her... Binki is not neutered ....therefore i know the intro will be a bit harder .... I will start introduci g them face to face in the bathroom(neutral area) this upcoming saturday and let you guys know how that worked out...its ok if the gliders breed once... I have done very extensive research over the years.. Once they breed i will neuter my male binki. ..and if any of the joeys are male i will in their appropriate time get them neutered as well,,,ill be honest im really nervous and excited about the intro ut ill be prepared with gloves at hand incase i have to seperate them!! Wish me luck....!!

 new to gliders

Posted by: gus s mom

Got our first pair of male gliders 3 weeks ago. 1 is doing great, appears to be bonding, can hold, feed, pick up, etc...the other 1 is not doing so good. He crabs every time i come near the cage to talk to him. has bitten me drawing blood on numerous occasions. Stopped trying to handle him bare handed, only handle him through pouch now so he can't bite me. Bit my finger when I was trying to feed him yogurt. Our tent came today which seemed great because the only thing the gliders have to do in there is climb on me. Gus (the not so nice one) kept nipping at my hand, not hurting or drawing blood, but then for no apparent reason he came over and bit me. I wash me hands before playing with them so there are no foreign scents on me. I feel like he hates all human contact. I don't know what else to do. I wear them a minimum of 4 hours a day, usually between 6 and 7 hours a day. And spend 1 - 1 1/2 hours a day in a glider proof bathroom or now tent. I take them to do errands with me, grocery shopping, to appt, dog walks, etc...I wear them inside my shirt, talking to them and petting them (thru the pouch) when ever possible. Do I just keep doing this and hope that gus comes around and eventually likes me
I'm really trying not to give up on this guy, Any advise would be appreciatedl!

Still Around and Loving My Babies

Posted by: Goldwinger
-----
Just a journal note to post that I am still around. I haven't posted in many months and do not spend everyday here. Sometimes it may take me two months to come and check out the site and read some stories. I was and still have a problem with the issue's that people want to argue about and the threads where people won't listen to reason. I decided I needed a break from it but know I will be back one day in full participation.

Cosmo and Lucas are just as great as ever. They are so cute and I am still so much in love with my babies. I'm amazed everyday at their antics and their love for me. I can hardly believe I was fortunate enough to learn about Sugar Gliders to begin with much less have them in my life.

My greatest accomplishment still is and will always be my rescues. My Luna, Milk Dud and Jack are doing so well. Luna and Milk Dud now do not hesitate to come out of the cage to me everyday. I never though I'd ever feel loved by them but I now know that they do. Luna's trust is the one I'm the most surprised by because of the conditions I got her in and how much dis-trust she has/had in all people. I don't know where she came from and how she got to that Pet Store. No information was given to me when I found her under that pile of stuff on the floor of the Pet Store. Pet stores are not the place that should be selling or caring for Sugar Gliders. They are always sudjected to some of the worst living conditions. Filthy cages, nothing in the cage for the gliders to do and of course the worst diet you can imagine. I haven't seen a Pet Store yet that has gliders that cares for them properly.

Jack is of course my greatest joy. As anyone can tell you he was in the worst physical shape of any of my babies when I got him and now you would not even recognise him. He has lost so much weight he is now my second smallest glider. I can't wait to put pictures of him in my album. Every night when he comes out of his sleeping pouch he is so funny. He crawls to the top of the cage and stretches himself all the way out and reminds me of a bat. Hanging upside down all stretched out and waking up I always look forward to seeing him do that and get a little giggle. He runs in the wheels now and I haven't had to take him to get his nails clipped at the vets for months because of it. I'm so very proud of my handsome man. He is the oldest glider of the group but seems to be in his second childhood. He is approximately 8 or 9 years old now.

We did have a very bad Thanksgiving because we lost our long time family member our rabbit. We had Kenji for about 10 years and lost him the Friday before Thanksgiving. I had to make the hard decision and have him put to sleep. We had taken him into the Vets to have his teeth trimed and upon waking up from the (can't spell it) sleeping stuff he was paralized from the waist down. We still cry everyday as we miss him so much. We did adopt two new bunnies. They are Lion Head bunnies and are so cute but they are a hand full. Two males named Snow Ball and Max. I still need to have them fixed because they are doing the nasty to each other but get along great. I'm hoping with tax returns to do this. We also lost one of our oldest hamsters and one of our small russian hamsters. These have been very sad months with these family members passing but we move one and love the ones that are still with us.

My Sugar Gliders are doing great and I continue to use the receipe's that I and others have made here on Glider Gossip. Take care and I'll be back with pictures soon.

 recently aquired sugar glider

Posted by: andigirl40

Hello, I'm looking for some help. I have just recently aquired a 2 year old male sugar glider from a friend who was no longer able to care for him. We would like to possibly buy another male so that he will have a playmate. Would a glider that age and that has been without any other gliders for that long be able to bond with a new baby glider? We can give him all the love and attention in the world but still would like for him to have a friend. Thanks for any help out there.
