Heather .... I didn't pay any attention to those other posts as far as making my decision hun. I had been praying all day to for God to lead me to the family that was suppose to have them. When you and I talked you were very nice but I just didn't get the feeling I was hoping for when I was deciding to let you take them. Don't take it personally... just because some ppl had some negative things to say ... it had NOTHING to do with my decision.. honestly. WHen I talked to Dave... that lump I had in my throat all day and the sick feeling in my heart went away. That is how I knew it had to be Dave and his wife.

I hope you can come to understand.

Oh for sure. Isabella (my 7 yr old) will be hounding me the day after you guys leave to see pictures of them already...lol She is as attached to them as my husband and I. I look forward to meeting you and Dave. I told him if you guys were up to it we could have dinner together. Assuming my husband has no further attacks that is. I just told him to steer clear of all the places we have had the sugar gliders until I have a chance to really get things sanitized for him. Keep your fingers crossed...lol

He got his voice back almost completely. Still sounds a bit scratchy but still much better than last night. The weezing is almost completely gone now. Whew...

Thanks again!

We feel so honored to be selected as the new parents of these 3 wonderful gliders. We will treasure them and spoil them just as we do George & Gracie. We will keep everyone supplied with plenty of pix, of course.

Well, I'd better get some sleep; I have plenty to do tomorrow to get ready to leave first thing Saturday morning. Blessings to all.

Thankfully everything turned out alright for the gliders. With Dave and his wife coming here regularly, you will never lack for news of them - and plenty of pictures!

Nancy and I will be leaving about 7 tomorrow morning. Looks like some rain on the way up, but it should be sunny on the way back on Sunday. Yes, I agree, this feels like a perfect fit.

I had my car serviced this afternoon in preparation for the trip. I was telling the gal at the service desk what we were doing and she looked at me like I was completely insane. Hmmm, I wonder what she was implying.

This forum is amazing. We hang out on some of the ebay chat boards, too, and it's amazing how self-contained communities can develop.

We'll post all about our adventure when we get back. Love to all,

- Dave & Nancy; George & Gracie [gliders]; Abbie, Audry, Apollo, Ashley, Noobs, & Sprocket [hamsters]; and Patches [guinea pig].

Abby, Hi it's me shannon and I appreciate dave speaking for me I could have come to pratville but I'm not real familiar with the area. I understand completely about not wanting to leave him for that long I would've felt the same if it were my husband. We had some bad news last week about my mother-in-law. She was diagnosed with breast cancaer and I had to take her in for pre-op yesterday and couldn't get back to the computer until today. I'm so glad that you found them a good place. I'm sure Dave will be wonderful. I appreciate you guys considering us we would have loved to have them. My daughter is a little disappointed but I'm sure there will be other gliders who need us. I hope your husband continues to get better and Mr. Dave if you ever find anyone that needs help just send us a line. I'll be listening out!! Happy Gliding!! thanks, draneinc

I couldn't agree more. I was telling Dave today that before I talked to him and made the decision to let him and his wife take my babies... I had this awful sick feeling in my heart. I was anxious and just in turmoil about having to send them to a new home. I finally took a deep breath... said a prayer... and asked God to help me feel at piece when I had found the RIGHT person. I can't explain it any other way from the second I talked to Dave... The sick feeling was just gone... I had a peace come over me. My husband even said he didn't feel the need to cry anymore. We had all been crying off and on all night since his attack. At first I thought it was due to my fear for my husband's health... but ultimately I knew it was because I KNEW what we were about to have to do. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. But.. talking to Dave made all that anxiety and sick feeling go away. I knew that no one would love them and take care of them the way he and his wife would. That actually made me smile

Thanks again Dave and Nancy!! You are a Godsend!!

He is allergic to the hormone that the male gives off. You know I have never been around other males but sometimes I wonder if he doesn't produce more than the average male glider. Today when I was taking their cage to the temporary home ... Ms Pam Lee, It just seems like it was so thick and everywhere. We always periodically would wash their cage set and wipe down the cage itself... but I think it had been about 2 weeks since I had actually done that and it just seems like it was thicker and stickier on the cage than ever before. I dunno... I don't understand it all myself. I have sat and wondered ...read as much as I could.. tried to research but have found no answers to satisfy my questions in my head about all of this allergy and hormone stuff. I am just glad I found Dave and Nancy.

Well... I went and bought my daughters rabbits last night to try and soften the blow of losing their gliders. I thought it had actually worked till this morning...Isabella started getting upset again. So I sat with her again and told her how much fun they would be having with Dave and Nancy's George and Gracie. How Dave would take all sorts of pictures and let us see how they are doing. It worked... she was smiling in no time.

Wow, what an amazing thread! Too bad I missed everything, I've been busy at work for the past few days and I always join the threads late :(
I'm glad everything worked out, and if Dave ever needs a hand, I just realized that I live in almost the same town he does... don't be afraid to ask!
Glider mommy, good luck with the rabbits! I'm sure they are cute ^_^

Thanks BrighterDays! I heard from Nancy earlier and she and Dave were in Albany.. I think that is where she said. They are expecting to make it into town about 5ish I think she said... I had a house full when she called. They are suppose to call me when they get to a hotel and settle in. Then I will ride out and meet them and take them to where the suggies are. I twisted my knee a couple days ago and I can hardly walk on it today so whatever I do will be in slowmo..lol Today is my 8th wedding anniversary and I can't even go out on a date with my hubby. uugh He said he would run out and pick us up dinner from one of my favorite resturants and bring it back to me.

The rabbits are adorable... but no substitution for my suggies. I just thought it would help keep Isabella's mind off Sassy Sally and Peppy and the fact that they aren't here anymore.

Aww I hope they will heal soon. It's so hard to find a new home for an animal you love so dearly, and i'm sure its even harder when you've got an entire household that shares your love.

But I know that having a good home for them to go live at helps a lot!!

I just got home from spending the evening with Nancy and Dave. They called me when they settled in at the hotel and after a my new washer and dryer was finished being installed I was out the door with my husband to pick them up and take them to Pam's house to meet their new babies. We had a wonderful visit with Pam and her husband Jeff. I think Dave and Nancy agree they are some pretty wonderful people.

Now just let me tell you guys... Today is mine and Philip's anniversary so we had planned to go out to dinner. We were excited when Dave and Nancy accepted our invitation to have dinner with us and our daughters. We shared wonderful conversation and laughed together. Before we left our house I had told my husband that I felt like I wanted to buy Dave and Nancy dinner to show my appreciation for the long distance they have traveled to give me the wonderful gift of peace of mind for my babies. I want you all to know... Dave and Nancy insisted on buying OUR dinner and wouldn't take no for an answer. I hated to have to take them back to their hotel. This has definately been one of the most wonderful anniversaries for me and my husband. We got the wonderful gift of a new home for our babies and new friendships that will last a life time. I feel very blessed for the opportunity to have met them both! They are 2 of the most amazing people to which I have ever had the pleasure of getting to know.

God Bless them both!
