We had a splendid time last evening. First, of course, we went to meet our new charges. They are so precious! And we wanted to make sure we would be able to take the cage apart so it would fit in our car. It will/we can!

We shared a delicious BBQ dinner with Abby and Philip. We insisted that it be our treat. After all, who can resist a combination Anniversary/Valentine's Day?! Besides, they are giving up so much - not just their furballs, but the cage, tent, toys; let's face it, that stuff doesn't grow on trees!

Anyway, we just had a quick breakfast at the motel. Now we're ready to pick up the gliders, plus their stuff, and head for Florida.

We'll post tonite from home.

Well I went to Pam's house this morning while they were packing up. I had forgotten to take the tent we used for tent time and had found the felt ball they liked playing on.... Anyway I wanted so badly to take them out of that pouch and love on each and every one of them. I thought better of it though because going back home to my husband could have been bad if I had suggie stuff on me and rubbed up against him. Anyway I said my good byes. I look forward to hearing from Nancy and Dave tonight.

You know when we were at dinner last night I had a salad. In the past I have always taken the cherry tomatoes home with me to the suggies and I got all teary eyed when I noticed I had yet again sat my tomatoes aside for the suggies. I guess it's gonna be small things like that .. that are really gonna get me misty sometimes. :)

So glad to hear you are home safe and sound with the new babies settled in.

Abby - Im so sorry. What a horrible predicament to be in. But our human family must always come first. Hopefully, you will fnd peace in knowing your husband will now be alright and your gliders have a wonderful home.

Of course our families thought we were absolutely insane for making this trip. I think perhaps only an exotic pet owner could understand.

Here's my take on the whole situation. The most sacred, binding, and permanent responsibility a human can take on is when he or she adopts an animal as a pet. At that moment, Nature relinquishes her responsibility for the animal. As humans, we are far less perfect than Nature, so we owe the animal our best effort at all times, not just when it's convenient.

When conditions require that we transfer this responsibility to another human, we must ensure that the new human will continue the care and devotion necessary to protect and nurture the pet.

These 3 gliders have been cared for in the best possible way. We are honored to have been selected to continue that care, and we do not take the responsibility lightly. We consider ourselves doubly blessed for having found 3 delightful gliders plus the friendship of a terrific human family, too.

What better reason to drive 1100 miles and burn a free weekend? I agree with Tisha ... hugs all around!

Thank you so much Rita for your kind words. It was horrible till we found Dave and Nancy. They made it all so much easier to accept. Once we knew they were going to be the new parents to our babies we felt completely at ease.
Yes I knew my husbands health had to come first. I had been telling him for a while that we should start looking for a new home for them when he started reacting the first time. He insisted NO... we love them they are apart of our family... how do you send family members away??? ... He was very persistant that he would be ok and that we would find a way to make it work. It took his air ways becoming compromised to see that we just couldn't keep them. We just feel so blessed to have come out of this with new friends and wonderful new parents for our babies.
