Hi everyone... I need your help. I have been up with my husband ALL NIGHT due to a violent allergic reaction to our sugar gliders. His allergy is getting worse. His breathing is now being effected. We have been doing everything we can to keep from getting to this point but our worst fears have become a reality. We have to find a good home for all 3 of our precious babies. I am reaching out to all members... we want them to all go to the same home as it would be terrible to break them up now. I would prefer them go to an experienced glider owner that will know how to give them the love and care they deserve. We will be more than happy to include the cage we have right now if needed plus all of our supplies. We live in Prattville Alabama. We can meet somewhere or work something out. The male has been fixed. If anyone can help us please let us know. Time is of the essence.

Thanks in advance.

Abigail

Oh - this is so heartbreaking. I can't even imagine having to give mine up. Anybody anywhere near Alabama? Hope your hubby feels better soon. And I'm so sorry.

Yes it's killing me and my husband.... my youngest daughter will be devistated. Unfortunately this is no longer something we have a choice in. My husband finally got to sleep and I am afraid to sleep. His breathing was so labored before. I just want to keep a close eye oh him.

Oh man, that just sucks Thankfully, you're doing the right thing and searching for a home that has knowledge and experience in suggies. I know I would settle for nothing less with my own boys. I just hope someone reaches you in time

So, ANYONE?

No one yet. I am going to call my vet today. See if they know of someone. I will keep everyone posted.

Melbourne FL is a full day's drive from Montgomery, but if my wife and I can arrange everything, we could come up Saturday, if that isn't too late.

OMG you are all so awesome! I found a lady that rehabs squirrels and knows alot about sugar gliders that is willing to take them until we find a home. So... Dave or suggiemom.. whichever of you thinks you can come get them... I can give your information to Ms. Pam Lee. She is taking them tomorrow and is just down the road from where I live. Her email address is mommalee2k2@aol.com She will be happy to discuss pick up arrangements. Thank you all so much for your generously loving natures. I feel blessed to have the pleasure of getting to know each and every one of you. If you need to email me further about this you may do so and then we can exchange phone numbers... maybe get into a 3 way call with Pam. My email is abigail_sanderson2003@yahoo.com Thanks again everyone!

UPDATE: suggiemom08 lives alot closer to me than dave does so I think it would be easier for her to meet me to get my babies. Dave I want to say that I am flabbergasted by the fact that you would drive all this way to give my babies a home. You are a wonderful person and I just wanted to thank you so much! I am waiting on a call or msg from suggiemom08 to determine the next step. If we can arrange something in the next day or so then maybe I don't have to take them to Pam first. Pam was just a quick way to get them out of here and way from my husband.

Thanks again everyone! God bless you all!

OHHHH dizzysmom how far are you from Indianapolis? My parents are right there close to Indianapolis working on the pipeline. Not that this has anything to do with my problem.... I just saw where you live and wanted to see how far that was from my parents.

Abby, my heart goes out to you, your family, and your gliders. A day's drive each way is a small sacrifice. If suggiemom08 is able to get them, that's wonderful. But if something doesn't work out, my wife and I are still on stand-by for making the trip. I'll keep an eye on the board for the latest. Keep us all posted, okay?

DEFINATELY Dave! I should hear from suggiemom08 soon. As soon as I do and we have a definitive plan... I will let everyone know.

My husband is at the doctor right now getting a breathing treatment and a new epi pen and probably an inhaler to come home with.

This has definately been the hardest thing for our family. I did so much research over the course of a year before getting Sassy and Sally. Then when we got Peppy... they just seemed so happy. It all was so perfect. I never would have seen this coming. My husband has never had animal allergies before. My youngest is taking almost like a death in the family... which is what is really does feel like. We will definately have a hole in our family with them gone. I am hoping whoever gets them will keep me updated with pictures of them peridically.

Anyway I am rambling now... I will post again after I talk to suggiemom08.

Thanks again Dave.

Hi me and my family live in northeast ga about 2 hours from atlanta we would gladly take them. I have three children and we only have one female that needs some friends. There is just not enough of her to go around. We would be willing to drive. my children would love it. Are they tame enough to be handled and played with every day? Because we play with"Sugar every Day.

Yes we play with ours every day. One of them.. Sassy.. can be a little skiddish. We have been working with her at her own pace with treats just trying to see if she will come around on her own.

Suggiemom08 has asked first. I have to talk to her to see what her plans are before I can do anything else. Keep watching the board for updates and thanks so much for your interest.

If suggiemom doesn't work out I could actually meet you at the Breman Exit off I-85 so you wouldn"t have to drive into atlanta. I hope your husband gets to feeling better.

I don't mean to speak for glider_mommy, draneinc, but with her husband being so sick, I think it would be proper to go to Prattville to pick up the gliders. I certainly wouldn't expect her to drive all the way to Atlanta under the circumstances.

Just my thoughts but if she isn't going to honor a trade for a bra pouch for some fleece.... Would she honor the commitment to take care of a glider?

Sounds a little like all take and no give to me.

I appreciate you saying that Dave. I was talking to suggiemom08 and she was asking me how much I wanted for them... well the answer to that is NOTHING. I want a good home.. period. She was asking me about where to meet... which was gonna make me drive over an hour... my husband really didn't want me to be gone for that long since he has been so sick. I am willing to go into Montgomery and even on the outskirts... but until I get all of the sugar gliders scent.. toys.. cage and all out he is likely to have another attack and he would be all alone. He certainly can't get into a van WITH the gliders because that would be suicide. He would most certainly go into respiratory distress.

That being said... I think everyone can see my dilemma. Thanks again Dave for being so thoughtful of my situation.

FINAL UPDATE: Dave has been gracious enough to offer to pick my babies up Saturday. I look forward to meeting him and his wife. I can honestly say the upset feelings and tears have turned into feelings of excitement ... excitement that my babies will be cared for by a wonderful family and that I get to still see them grow through Dave's updates and pictures.

I want to thank you all for your wonderful support and input. I have had many wonderful offers. Ultimately I felt I was being led to let Dave and his family have them. I am going to remain a member here. I have come to have alot of respect for many of you that I have had the opportunity to talk with.

Thanks again!

I am very upset that I was looked past as a home for your gliders. This hurts alot and all because I had some family problems and had to get past them before I could handle anything else.
