Awww, I was so hoping for a positive outcome...I have a lump in my throat. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. If you are close with mom, don't change what you're doing with her. She'll need your interaction. If you are not close and you feel like you will stress her, maybe give her some space. Try your best to read what she's wanting. I know mine would "use" me as a babysitter quite often. Maybe she will use you as well. :) I wish I could say something to make it better.
I did have one unexpectedly pass about a year and a half ago...I told the vet to please take care of him for me. I couldn't handle it.
Maybe speak with your vet about a payment plan. It seems like they would run into this kind of situation that's unexpected and hopefully, they'll work with you. There's also
