Ok here we go. I was wondering who has had their gliders the longest here at glider gossip. Who has the oldest glider and what are we feeding them. I hope this posts helps some of the newbies.

I have had Maverick and Dakota for little over a year and a half. They had one set of joeys, a boy and girl, Viper and Charlie. Not long at all. I'M STILL A NEWBIE

I feed a modified BML mix along with fruits, veggies and other foods, I also put zookeepers in the cage 24/7.

I've had gliders for about three years now. I've got thirteen gliders at the moment..well, ten with three that I have recently "adopted" to my thirteen year old daughter. She's doing a great job with this little family, and I am here to help her all she needs. We've had that family for quite awhile now. She was just anxious to try out being a glider mom, and has a huge bedroom, so I thought, what the heck?

The majority of the time, we feed BML. I do give them a break from BML every few weeks, and feed a balanced 50/25/25 diet. We've been doing this for awhile now, and it works great for the gliders. They are happy, energetic, and sassy babies! I think a little variety is good for all living creatures. I just like the insurance of BML, and knowing that feeding a nutritious meal to them can be quick and simple with our sometimes hectic schedules. I prefer to have the time to play with them on most nights!

I've only had my babies for a couple of months, so I'm definantly still a newbie to the whole having gliders, but I've been doing research since I was 10 on them and I'm now 20 (almost 21), I just had to wait until I was out of my parents house and out of the dorm rooms to get my babies.

Anyways, we changed the diets a few times, we started out with the 50/25/25 but then when we got our 2nd glider a few weeks later, we realized that doing one of the prepared diets would be better, so we started researching to figure out which one we wanted. After a few days of research we found the Blended diet that Candy has on here so that's what we've been feeding. It's a mixture between BML and HPW and my gliders LOVE it. We also feed Dahlia's recipes for the fruits and veggies every night that has the correct Ca/P ratio. Our gliders are only about 6 months old, and like I said we've only had them for a couple of months so I'm still new to everything, but that is what we feed them now after a few changes.

I've had Wavern for about eight months now, and Vestral for about a month. I feed the 50/25/25 with a lot of different types of fruits and veggies and yogurt, chicken, egg, tofu meat alternative crumbles, mealies, and baby food for protien. (Mealies are a snack more than a protien source though!). I also add rep-cal every other day (a sprinkle) and glider vitamins once a week. I also have acacia gum powder I add once a week or every other week. They get a glider pellet during the day, although maybe a piece or two is consumed every day, so it is not a major component to their diet!

I have had Boo for 5 months. She is on the BML with fruits and veggies. She is being a naughty little girl the last couple of nights and not eating veggies like she should. So Last night I made her omlette Florentine of the recipes posted on here and she ate it up.. So tonight she will have the veggie relish that I found on here also. I do also give her chicken and turkey and of course treats which could be a little licky of honey, mealies, or yogies..About once a week I will put her eucalyptus leaves and chew sticks in there for her.. She plays with it more than eats at it but she loves it when I put it in there with her.

I have had Jacobi and Dakota for a little over two years and I've had Atreyu for about 10 months.

They're all eating BML with fruits and veggies, with mealworms. They don't get many treats aside from licky treats.

I'm going to switch them onto HPW soon.

I have had Ava and Grace for about 5 months so I too am still a newbie at sugar gliders. I feed BML with fruits and veggies for a month and then switch to 50/25/25 for a week and then back to BML, so that they do not get tired of the same things. I do not feed alot of treats, but I do give them some. They seem to be very happy and healthy.

If they're eating BML, I wouldn't switch it. Why mess with success!

I've had Shikoni for four years now, and he's always eaten the 50/25/25 diet with superworms and crickets -- though before he lived with me he got pellets, fruits and vegetables, and mealies. Washi and Kioko came to me almost a year ago (November 23!) and I changed them from a baby food diet to the same as Shikoni.

I have had Moriko and Mariko for about 2 years, which they are a little older than that if you count the OOP time before they were weaned. I've had the newest introduction to the Moriko colony, Chibi, for almost 6 months now.

My colony that I re-homed only a little over a month back, the Cally colony of 5 consists of the oldest dad of the group, Cally, which is 3 years old. Kiara, the mom, which her age to me is unknown and their kids, which are unknown also and I have not named yet.

Everyone eats the 50/25/25 diet along with a special concoction of supplements and secret fixings to mix it in. =P

I have 10 gliders ranging in age from 10 months to 16 months OOP. I have had the oldest two since they were 8 weeks OOP, so I have had gliders for 14 months.

I have been feeding my own Blended Diet for about 9 months after several months of research on the nutrients provided by all of the recognized diets.

Here is the Blended Diet if you want to see how it is made:
www.gliderkids.com/BLENDED-GLIDER-DIET.html

I have no trouble getting my babies to eat fruits or veggies (as many people seem to be concerned about) I feed one fruit and one veggie each night (1 TBS each per glider) and I find very few leftovers in the morning. The blended diet has a CA:P ratio of 2.3:1 so many fruits and veggies can be used and the overall ratio for the whole meal stays between 1.5:1 and 2:1. They even get peas & corn about once a week!

Some of my gliders came to me quite stained from previously bad diets. (Archy was being fed fruit shaped parrot food!) They are all now beautiful greys with very soft fur.

I have thirteen gliders, most ages I don't know because I adopted them for forever homes. It started with Cameron and Chase. I have had my gliders for almost a year and I feed Ed's suggie soup! My gliders have never been happier, or healthier! (Some a little pudgy, but still good!)

I've had Shady for 2 years, then I got Behbet a couple months later, and I've had Yoshi for 1 year.

I tried BML, which was ok for Shady but when I got Behbet she wouldn't eat it. So I started with Priscilla Price diet, which is what Behbet was used to before I got her. The gliders loved it but I thought it was a little complicated so I decided to try HPW.

They love the HPW just as much as the priscilla diet and I like it a lot better because it's easier.
We've been on HPW for over a year now and I plan on sticking to it. It's my favorite out of the 3 i've tried.

Unfortunately, the long term glider owners are not on this site for the most part. Kazko has had gliders probably the longest on here. The rest of us don't have gliders old enough to give that kind of data about diet vs. longevity, unfortunately.

ani15174eva, what is Reeds Diet??

I am still a newbie too. I have had mine since February last year. So almost 9 months (wow has it been that long?!). I switch between HPW and 50/25/25. Been doing 50/25/25 for a while now though. Will probably go back to HPW for a while. They are pretty good eaters. Still trying to get them to like eggs though. Goldwingers microwave recipe with cottage cheese is having some success - yea!

I've only had mine about 6 + months. I feed a mix of fruits veggies, meal worms occassionaly, pellets ocassionally, I am wondering if I should add crickets ocassionally and a supplement. I love this board cause you learn more and more. I'm going to try some yogurt too. Just trying to see what they like.....

We have had our original two 18 months and have added four more. When we got Elvis and Priscilla from the dealer, they were feeding them a pelleted diet that looked like the Turtle food at Petco with sunflower seeds mixed in and no vitamins! They were healthy and as soon as I got some further research into diets, I went with a modification of the Suncoast diet feeding a protein source, fruits and veggies and leaving zookeeper's secret staple food in the cage 24/7(changing it out within 48 hours of putting it in if any was left. All get at least one if not two fruits per night, one or two veggies, mealworms(either standard size or sometimes minis, Phoenix worms on occasions as only a couple like them), zookeepers secret or insectivore mix (depending on if it comes from Suncoast or Exotic Nutrition) and Lab Standard Monkey biscuits soaked in either water or pure apple juice until it is soft. I have three water bottles in the cage and use only purified or distilled water and change it every two days. I do not feed any pelleted food!!!

I'm going on 2 years in May with Luna, add a little longer to calculate in oop and weaning. She was about 4 months old when I got her.

She's eating 25/25/50, and after trying Dahlia's method of relishes- I no longer need to blend veggies because she eats them ALL every single night.

I have had Gizmo for about 2 1/2 yrs, Roo for about 2 yrs and Mr Jingles and Izzy for about 9 months and they are all fed 50% protein/25% fruits/25% vegetables.

Mr Jingles and Izzy were on BML before I got them but since Gizmo & Roo will not eat it, I switched them so they would all be on the same diet.

They also enjoy occasional meal worms, yogies or other treats.

I got my first two gliders in December of '08 so I've almost been a glider mom for a year. I started with two and now have 5!! (I really need to stop looking at craigslist!)

I started off feeding BML and they liked it for about 2 months. Then they simply refused to eat it at all. So I switched to HPW and have been feeding that for a LONG time and everyone loves it! I'm very happy with the HPW as their protein. About once a month or so I like to make them chicken or omelettes though, just to switch it up!
