Looks like a squirrel to me too but it has a skinny tail so it can't be a squirrel. :(

Numbat is a marsupial and a very good guess, but no dice! Numbats max litter is 4.

Most definitions of marsupial say that mom has a pouch and that is an acceptable generalization but not correct. Correctly defined, a marsupial has young that develop outside of the body because there is no placenta. During gestation, they are connected to what might best be described as an egg yolk, not to the mother. Their connection to the mother happens after birth and they do most of their development outside the body.

So is this even a marsupial? Can you tell?

I'm guessing marsupial because the young are "outside" and "imperfect."

I'm stumped.

The bubblegum cigar goes to Mrs King for STO!

Short tailed opossums (Monodelphis domestica) are from South America, and are 4-6 inches long (body only; their tail is almost as long as the body) with thick grey-brown fur. The tail is prehensile, meaning it can wrap around and hold onto things, and hairless. They are marsupials, although they do not have a pouch like most marsupials. However, their young are born quite premature and helpless, latch on to a nipple on their mother's abdomen, and stay there until they are further developed, like other marsupials. In the wild they will eat insects, spiders, and rodents. For this reason they are actually welcome house guests in their native countries.
