Okay Folks - I wanna know how either:

#1 Your spouse proposed to you -or-
#2 You proposed to your spouse.

I guess I'll start:

David proposed several times before I took the bait. I'd been down that road before, and hadn't enjoyed the journey. What really sealed the deal was when he proposed with a flow chart. Anyone who's done any computer programing will be familiar with this, but even if you haven't, it's pretty self-explanatory. I figured any man that understood me well enough to propose via flow chart had a good chance of making it with an oddball like me. Our 23rd anniversary is in two days and I still love him to pieces. Guess I made a good call on that one, huh?

Here's the flow chart:

Adorable, isn't it. SO! What's your story ?!?!

(Our 2 year anniversary of meeting is on 4th of July...then our 2 year anniversary is this August 27th) Soooo.....I'll be back here soon??? Maybe????

BTW: Davids proposal is SO awesome!! Very original! You are probably the ONLY woman in the world to be proposed to with a flow chart!

That is original!! LOL Mine's pretty ordinary. There's a hot springs place we like to go to (or at least we used to-it's so run down now) and we planned to go around my birthday. We get there, check in-this is supposed to be 2 or 3 days, I think. We go into our room, start unpacking some stuff and talking about where to eat. All of a sudden, he started acting really weird. He was pacing and kind of almost acting half drunk. (No alcohol was involved for the record) I kept asking him why he was acting so strange. Finally, he comes over to me, whips out a ring and really fast says something to the effect of how he wanted it to be a romantic weekend and he had all the right things to say planned but didn't know when he would ask me but he just couldn't wait so would I marry him. It was really cute to me because if you knew him, I mean, he could be a motivational speaker for a living! He's a great speaker, salesperson and he always has people wanting him to re-tell stories...he is just never at a loss for words so it was really touching to see him so "weird". That's my big story. We still had a fun weekend. I think he was relieved he had it over with. If he had acted like that all weekend, it probably wouldn't have ended like he wanted. LOL August 23 was our first date 16 years ago and I also have been blessed with my true soulmate. :)

Awww! I love the flow chart. Okay, is David an engineer or project manager? Very original!!!

I was the one to propose. I am an extremely liberated female, but am always a little embarrassed to admit that! No unusual story otherwise...I didn't do anything really shocking or cute, just made a nice candlelight dinner and did it myself. I even bought him a gold band that he wore on the other hand until we got married, and he bought me an actual engagement ring, because he was concerned about the fact that other guys didn't realize that I was engaged! LOL!

The flow chart is cute and original! Very sweet..
My hubby drove me out to our "secret spot" at the beach... A place where you can watch the cruise ships come in and out... We always picknick there out of the back of my truck.
Anyway...he drove me out there and took me out by the water, held my hands, and gave me a long and very thoughtfull speach, and slid my pretty little ring on my finger. I loved it! Our 1 year aniversary is August 14!

Yes - David is an electrical engineer and I was a computer systems engineer a loooong time ago. (Way back when 10 megabytes was a generous-sized hard drive.)

These stories are making me grin like an idiot.

OK, I had just gotten back from a trip with two friends to Florida. While we waited for our plane we read a horoscoope book. Mine said marriage was in the offering. That weekend we went out to eat and stopped by Fred's house. I could hear his Mom say "did you ask her yet", but he didn't know I heard anything. We drove to the park and that's where he proposed. That was 39 years ago.

Well I wish i knew the answer to this--Neither Jon nor I ever proposed. It just kinda happened. We just kinda one day we started talking about marriage and 4 months later we were married and now we will celebrate our 2 year anniv on Oct 10th.

The real story for us isnt the proposal its the drama to the alter lol.

For some reason since the day I met him (july 22nd 2006) everything was a blur from there to here.

I do know one day he will do the big proposal and we will renew our vows and have the cermony we never got to have, etc but you know its just meant to be in its own time

My husband took me to our local park to propose. We were walking through the flower garden and he took me by the hand and led me to the gazebo like thing and got down on one knee, slipped a huge engagement ring on my finger and asked me to marry him. Obviously, I said YES!

So he would have infinately proposed to you had you said no? I mean it did take it back to the start.

Tim proposed to me at the lake- it was totally unromantic and expected.

My hubby gave me a beautiful music box for Christmas that year. It has mirrored doors that open and turn. Inside the center is an angel. He put my wedding ring on the angels arm so when I turned it on I found it, then he asked. I said yes after being a single mom for 17 years and swearing never to get married again. The next month I found out I had thryoid cancer so we put the wedding on hold until after the surgery and my recovery. Right after that they found my heart problem, talk about a double whammy! 2 years later on Valentines Day he said want to get married now.. we did. :)
Its been 6 years now and he is a keeper! My music box is one of my most treasured belongings, its so beautiful and holds so many memories.

Oh, I love the flow chart Raven, thats so cute!

Raven: I just knew that one or both of you had to be techies!!!LOL! My hubby and I are both musicians, but he's also a complete nerd, as far as electronics, especially audio electronics goes. We were both music performance majors in college, but BOTH ended up doing something else professionally after being very tired of trying to reconcile the professional musician lifestyles with wanting a famiy...hard to depend on a paycheck and schedules, and hustling for gigs all the time just made life difficult at that time. Anyhow, I love the flow chart! Sounds like you have a brilliant and creative man!!! :-)

P.S.--Duane and I were married nineteen years on April 28.

Love the flow chart, Raven!!! Tell David that was a totally unique proposal and how could any woman say no!!!

Alan and I had a very different proposal/marriage, too. We met online in an AOL chat room back in April of 1999. In June of 1999, he e-mailed me a link to "meet" him at 7:00pm. I was not to click on the link until that time. When I clicked on the link, it was a cyber wedding chapel. It first asked me to marry him and when I accepted, it sent us an "Engagement Certificate" and told us to plan a date for our "cyber wedding", which we did. After our "cyber wedding" the site e-mailed us both a cyber wedding certificate! It was really cute and fun! And, of course - not legal!!!

We met in person on October 21st,1999. I flew to Seattle from St Louis as Alan had been to St Louis but I had never been to Seattle. We knew we were meant to be together from the first moment we met. We traveled back and forth until May of 2000, when Alan moved to St Louis to be with me. He woke me up about 3:30 one morning (We cant remember the date!) and gave me my engagement ring and officially asked me to marry him. I was to tired to remember much of it. Anyway, we said if we were still together in 5 years, we would get married on October 21st - the anniversary of the day we met in person.

We didnt get married until October 21st, 2005 - when we went to Las Vegas and had an Elvis wedding - where we promised to never walk in the rain in our blue suede shoes, to always take care of each others hound dogs and to be each others hunka hunka burnin love.

Well, we have had a sometimes rocky relationship since then - but we do love each other and will always be together.

Wow, that sis so cute! I was proposed to at the state park near my way called rock state park up on the highest peak looking out over the sunset and falling leaves, it was so romantic I couldn't even speak, I couldn't even say yes, untill I got over what was really happening I didn't expect anything like this to happen so perfectly. You can look up the website on Rock State Park and see the King and Queens seat where we both were at the time.

This pictue shows exactly wher we were at right on the ledge of the rocks its a very far way down the rocks.

My husband proposed to me at home. We had just gotten home from a wonderful Christmas party but I were tired. I sat down in the computer chair and he was giving me a shoulder massage. Then he asked if I remembered what he asked the first time he kissed me. I said I did and that he had asked me if I would do him a favor and then he said, "will you do me another favor?" and turned the computer chair around and he was down on one knee and asked if I would marry him :) Our 2 year anniversary is on Aug 18th.

After a 20 year marriage went to the wayside, I felt like I had been put on the curb with the rest of the trash. I had a "support" group, where I work. Well, actually they were a group of break buddies. One of whom picked me up from that curb and made me feel like I did mean something. That was 6 or 7 years ago. We have been happily married for 4 years now. We picked a date that we both could remember - Christams Eve. To answer the original question, neither one of us - we started talking about furniture and such. And, I like NASCAR - I think that clinched the deal.
