Thanks you guys. I'm glad you mentioned the fleece. After this poll is done, I will create a new one with the "others" in it so we can be more accurate....

I know a rescuer who uses the velour. Swears it's easier than fleece.

we use this http://www.swheatscoop.com/ wheat litter but, it works great... no smell and clumps so can be scooped. But really even with this as far as contact goes it doesn't much matter, our cage has the grid a good 6" above the little pan, so the suggies can't reach into the litter at all.

I use fleece on top of the cage wire. Underneath in the tray I use white paper towels(never color) and sometimes brown paper grocery bags. I line the bottom tray because the urine goes straight through the fleece, and it makes for less smell, and it's easier to clean the paper towels out daily and the fleece every 3 days.

You guys are so lucky, my glider will move fleece from the bottom of their cage and pull it out of the tray pan and destroy puppy pads, and carefresh is too expensive. LOL. LUCKY.

i did use old sheets folded up (pull out bottom cage) but recently i started using timothy hay (helps with the smell also) i was worried about hay dust bothering them or something, but all the research i did said nothing against timothy hay plus the pet rabbit grade stuff does not contain much dust at all either way.

I have read that pine and cedar are both bad, but cedar is supposed to be a little worse. I also learned years ago that corn cob can be horrible too. When it gets wet, it builds up a mold that is toxic to small mammals. After we learned this, the pet store I worked for kept it in very limited supplies and would only sell it to reptile (snake mostly) owners. This is about the only safe application. My glider is bad with the fleece also, but after researching there is one thing that I've not been able to find any negative information on against glider safety; Aspen crumbles. I love it. If there is any problem that anyone here has found, please correct me so I can stop and no one else takes this advice.

i now also use puppy training pads and i agree it is much easier the pads holds the odor in so you cant smell it and the liner underneath prevents it from leaking there wonderful

I don't use anything. The grate at bottom of cage keeps babies out of what falls into the catch tray. I used clorox wipes to clean the tray each morning. I change out pouches every morning when I clean cage. Should I be using a litter?

What about using kitty liter if it is on the tray under the main portion of the cage? I am not using it currently. We are using black and white newspaper currently. I do like the idea of the paper towels. Fleece am not to sure about that...
