Thank you for this thread! I read as much as I can sometimes daily to give myself and babies a succesful relationship and even though I knew alot of what is here I did learn a few things that I had never even thought of! SO Thanks again!!!

Blue, Dark or Red/Magenta Nose


Blue or dark nose indicates lack of oxygen-Possibly due to pneumonia or respiratory distress. Dark red or Magenta can indicate an infection in the head or sinus. It's red/dark because of the body rushing blood to the area in an attempt to combat the problem. If nothing is apparent, an x-ray is recommended. Keep in mind that nasal flushes rarely work as well. Note that some gliders have normally darker noses. If it isn't normally dark, tho, a vet visit is in order.

Some of it is in the Gliderpedia - and what isnt there could be added if I could find the time to do it.

We keep bumping it because the newer people dont really know to go to the Gliderpedia. And thats a shame because there is a lot of good information there.

I would love to see this post cleaned up by removing all the bumps....

This is a delayed response:

More people go to the gliderpedia than the forum. It may seem like there are a lot of newbies that post, but that's just a small portion of the people that visit this site looking for information. It's much more beneficial to spend the effort adding information to the gliderpedia than one may realize.

As a final reason why I will not make this a sticky topic is because that would constantly require me to edit it in order to keep it on topic. I would rather people post information in the gliderpedia and have everyone have the ability to edit and make changes, not just me. There is also one discussion in particular that I do not want to get lost in the noise of multiple sticky topics. The reason that exists is due to the immediate and life threatening risk associated with the people that email us asking what should they do to remove the worms coming out of their glider. Sorry, but that unfortunate state of affairs is going to trump everything when it comes to getting the attention of newbies.

To offer something that I've noticed, sticky topics won't stop people from posting and asking the same questions over and over again. This just seems to be the nature of people unfortunately. Everyone assumes their problem is unique.

A quick addendum. If the situation changes, and a health related sticky is added to the forum, it would only contain links to the gliderpedia. The idea being that the landing page would be what people(that's you) make changes to as necessary. So, that doesn't really change the idea that the gliderpedia is where the important information should be stored.
