Ok, someone suggested to me to give my gliders some "live" food, like a pinky mouse or something. I just dont know if I could EVER give my gliders a live, helpless, little baby mouse, when I see a baby mouse I dont think of it as a rat, I think of it as just another baby animal that has not gotten the chance to live! is there anything else that I could give my gliders as live food? I give them mealies and crickets all the time, someone also suggested me to give them a baby chick or a small bird but I thought that was just plain strange! is it? They also suggested to buy a live, small feeder mouse and they could have that but I dont know sure they hunt birds in the wild, but I dont know!! any thoughts? I know this soulds like a strange question lol, im just curious on what else I would give my gliders as live food. Oh and another reson why I dont want to give them a pinky because my friend (who also has gliders) gave his boys two pinkies and one of the gliders started to treat it like a JOEY and the other one killed the piny and left it there.

I personally couldn't do it either. Mealworms are about as far as I go for live food.

yea I know same, but my friend told me that if you didnt give it to them live, they wouldnt be interusted in it I know the gliders would have a blast hunting something down live, but I dont know lol. I would never beable to watch them take down a bird or a mouse tho I would just have to make my brother give it to them stepakapets101 Super Glider Canada 366 Posts
quote:
I herd that if they have a pinkie they might eat there future joeys if they have any as if they are pinkie mice.

ya I herd the same thing, thats another reson why I didnt want to give them a pinky, I do want to give them something safe though and im just seeing if anyone has tried anything else other then bugs or pinkies. when my friend gave his male glider a pinky he thought it WAS a joey lol, he took it into the nest and started cleaning it, he even protected it from the other glider it was so cute! the pinky was with him for a few hours and he still was treating it like a baby (even though there was not a female around) he was a dad before so I was not that suprised. we did take the pinky from him and gave it to someone with a pet rat that was about to have some babies the baby mouse is alive and happy, we could not watch the other male kill it, it was to sad stepakapets101 Super Glider Canada 366 Posts
quote:
I think that's a myth. They eat small animals in the wild.

well then I guess this is a first for you Trust me, I was ther, he did have something wrong with his smell though, he was a rescue and the previous owners did not treat him right, poor guy! Im not sure what happened to his nose but he dose not have the greatest sence of smell.

So essentially you paid money to save maybe 1 billionth of a % of their population. AnimalsequalLife Joey 48 Posts I don't have a problem with feeding mice to my corn snake, although I do feed her frozen pinkies because I don't think I would like seeing them so helpless, and get eaten alive :( I don't think I will ever do that.It is as though you are watching your glider being eaten by your cat alive.Poor pinkies.
