Walmart is selling cake carriers for $4 that you can cut into to create glider kitchens out of! You can find them in the "summer" seasonal section!

This is ours! We're so happy with it! A hot knife and sand paper created this excellent kitchen. I'm very happy with it!
Hopefully this will keep Piper's mess down a little bit!

I would put 2 entrance/exit holes, just so no one can trap anyone in there and fight.

normally you put them inside the cage depending on how big the cage is. It really keeps the mess down inside the cage

I know that some people use a special tool that cuts holes (like in doors for doorknobs).

I traced a circle around a coaster (or something round) and then carefully cut it out with a knife. Then smooth it out with sandpaper.

No offense to anybody else, but I still like my idea about putting the hole in the lid better. To clean it, all you have to do is fill it and soak-since there isn't a hole in the side, water stays in! And cutting the hole was less awkward, since the lid is a flat surface. All I did was trace something round (a can I think?) and cut with an x-acto blade.

Hey, the hole on top is an awesome idea!! I have tupperwear but couldn't get the hole in the side with any utensil I tried. I cut a hole in the top and it was perfect. I'm going to test the kitchen (hee hee - test kitchen) tonight and see was the gliders and I think of it.

We used a red hot knife (destroyed the knife). Heated on the stove. And then sanded. We freehanded the hole with sharpy.
Gliders don't care if its perfect, just if they can get to their food.
The top whole is a good alternative but I don't think it makes any difference in cleanliness. If my gliders want to make a mess, nothing will stop them.

I don't know if I'd put the hole on the lid. Not sure about anyone else's but mine poop while hanging from top of cage-poop could fall into their food. Yuck!

Mine have no problem getting in or out-aren't you guys sugar glider owners? You should know they're acrobats!

Also, I position the food dish on the opposite side of the container from the hole, preventing poop from falling in and giving them room to get inside without landing on the dish. I only have two, though, so I don't know it things would be more complicated with more than that.

dparr- I don't think there's ever been a question of whether or not they can get out of the kitchen where ever the whole is. Obviously they can. Its whether or not it helps the mess or if it even matters where the hole is.
