kazko Little Bunny FooFoo TX, USA 6752 Posts I dont recall dogs and cats being native to North America. Matter of fact, how about cows even, or horses, or white man... There all idiots. The laws right now typically state that you cant own any NATIVE species. So some PETA assholes want to remove all pet rights from people without just coming out and saying so. They might be able to stop the pet trade, but the day someone comes to my house to take my pets away, someone is going to end up dead over it. Perhaps these idiots need to focus on something more reasonable such as reasonably licensing the ownership of such animals so they can be tracked and managed and when one goes missing, people get fined and tossed in jail. The problem isnt the animals, the problem is the idiots that keep them, breed them, let them go. My gliders are no threat to anything. And if they did get out, I'd be the first to either capture them or shoot them in the head from a distance with a pellet gun if that's what it takes to comply with my license. What pisses me off about all of this is that people always think that people have to be protected from themselves. I say we all say to hell with this nation and move to Australia where politically correct means cussing in public and saying whats on your mind and doing no harm to others. tisha Goofy Gorillatoes OK, USA 2081 Posts lovely1inred Fuzzy Wuzzy 1144 Posts Regulating and banning....oooo sounds like a firearms argument to me! The problem with PETA and every other militant-viewpoint group is just that, they have their head so far up their butt over being right that they can't see the middle ground, which is usually what is going to work best and satisfy the majority of people. I mean, who would in their right mind say that a 16 yr old is licensed to operate a 2000 lb piece of machinery without supervision? Still, every year teenagers learn to drive. When you phrase things a certain way, it sounds really scary, sounds like you are 100% right, when that's not necessarily the truth. And I'm convinced that if PETA could find a legal way to execute humans to benefit animals, they would do it. Belinda Face Hugger FL, USA 944 Posts quote: Originally posted by Kazko

Kazko you could be my best friend. I love reading what you have to say. You are eloquent in speaking your mind. And Kyro we have plenty of asses here. Not necessarily the four legged kind. And it seems to me that I heard goldfish was a problem. I dont have time to read the article but I kinda get the drift. I will keep it on this page until tomorrow. charliestar Glider TX, USA 100 Posts I completely understand where everyone is coming from. However, lets not lose sight of all of the good PETA has done for animals. Just like it was said that they swing too far one way, the remark that groups like PETA are not needed, I feel, goes too far the other way. PETA and groups like them, unfortunately, are needed because A LOT of people DO NOT do the right things unless FORCED to. I can tell you that this bill will not pass as written, so do not worry. However, I think they are on the right track. Hopefully, the end result will benefit the animals they are trying to protect and the responsible owners that have these kind of pets and love and care for them properly. This is just the beginning phase. In fact, if you research most bills that pass, the beginning process usually looks nothing like the end result. I know everyone on this site loves their pets and probably loves animals in general. Any group that is out there working hard to protect and make these animals lives better should be supported to a certain degree. To bash PETA over this negative issue and others that they have in their history, I feel, is counter productive for the animals we love. Sometimes, we have to give up some of our supposed rights for the betterment of the certain animal species we are trying to help. Just my thoughts. charliestar Glider TX, USA 100 Posts I understand you are passionate about your opinion Valkyriemome and others. I am not saying that PETA always makes the decisions I think would be best either. However, if you educate yourself about PETA's activities, you can not logically and rationally deny that they have done some real good for animals and animal rights and issues. No one is perfect and neither is any one organization. I am just saying that we can not disregard and impune an organization or organizations effectiveness over one or two issues. The fact is, they do help to a certain degree and anyone out there helping animals in whatever way possible is OK in my book. Animals need all the help they can get. I am just saying look at the whole picture and not just see the things you disagree with. I don't think that is making a fair judgment. mama2suggies4 Joey 29 Posts mama2suggies4 Joey 29 Posts I guess that you do not really care that they are going to kill our sugar gliders. I also have chinchillas and guinea pigs that they will kill if this law is passed. You do not even have a sugar glider. You have cats and dogs so you are safe. charliestar Glider TX, USA 100 Posts Dearest Mama2suggies4, Of course I care. I have dedicated most of my adult life to animals of ALL kinds. I PROMISE you that this bill WILL NOT pass. I have been involved in various animal legislation for years. As this is written, it will NEVER fly and I agree that this is a GOOD thing. I was just addressing the bad rap PETA was getting by a few people. That is it. I am very familiar with the PETA organization and didn't want their good work to go unrecognized because a few people don't like a few things that PETA has done. I am sorry if I upset you. I would be the first one to stand between the animals and the government if this were to pass. I KNOW THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN THOUGH SO PLEASE RELAX. YOUR BABIES ARE SAFE. mama2suggies4 Joey 29 Posts Charliestar, Sorry for the over reaction. I just love my animals. charliestar Glider TX, USA 100 Posts mama2suggies4, I sent you a PM. I will say that you have absolutely NO REASON to apologize for anything. You and I are passionate about animals. This is a good thing. It is people like us and most of the members of this site and so many others that help change the lives of animals for the better. NEVER lose your passion!! And, ALWAYS get involved. If you don't, things get passed or happen that you do not agree with and once a law passes, etc., it is that much harder to change it. Good luck to you in all things and God bless. Hugs, Denise
