Thoughts, prayers, hugs and more. I'm nearly 25 weeks pregnant. Yesterday I went in for an ultrasound and they said my amniotic fluid was very low. Premature labor is a huge risk under those conditions. I'm hoping it's just dehydration and have been drinking water constantly.

The good news is that any time after 26 weeks, they have a very good chance of being okay with modern technology. It's admirable how you've kept everyone posted and kept yourself together.

Thank you, Keep us posted on your pregnancy, too.

I wasnt very together yesterday - not at all. You want to protect your kids, no matter what their age - and when you cant, its a pretty helpless feeling.

Today, I have come to the conclusion nothing is within our control - and we will take it day by day and deal with what is given. and Praying all the time for a good outcome.

Still no news. No news is good news.

I just talked to Jim and Jess is still having contractions. They are giving her some shots to help the babies lungs mature. This will be for the next 48 hours, which means another critical time period. The babies are fine at this point - so hopefully, they will decide to stay where they are for a couple more weeks!!!

Jim went home last night to get some rest and ended up not being able to sleep. He said he would doze off and then wake up thinking his phone was ringing and it wasnt. He will be spending the whole week-end at the hospital.

I will be going up Sunday and can hopefully visit Jess for a few minutes. Jim and I will then go have some lunch and go to their house to get the "horse" named Big Mac.

So, still not much news... I hate waiting games.

Yep No News is sometimes best!
Glad to hear they have started her with working on the lungs. Maybe if you are there one day, Jim can go and get a few hours of sleep...
Did he ask if they would bring him a cot? I know they did for my hubby in MD when I had Victoria! 19 days of a couch would kill anyone's nerves!

Ok - now we are worried.

They tried to downsize the dosage of the medication Jess is taking to stop labor. She was only suppolsed to be on that strength for 3 days. When the lessened the dosage - she immediately started contractions again. So they had to put her back on the higher dosage.

Jim met with the Dr this morning and was told Rosie should be ok as she is the larger of the two. But they are worried about Harry being so small.

This is the first time Ive heard Jim cry. Im just heartbroken for them. I offered to get in my car and drive right up there but he said he would love for me to do that but he really needs to be with Jess right now - and she still cant have any visitors. She gets worried when he goes out into the hallway to talk as she thinks he is keeping something from her. Thankfully, the medication is keeping her calm and drowsy.

He said when they changed her IV last night, he had to help her bath and wash her hair. She cried about this because she has never had to have anyone do these things for her before. Jim assured her he was glad to help her in anyway.

Like I said, Im going up there tomorrow and have lunch with Jim and get the horse - ooops - dog.

This is really getting scary. Im so worried. And its killing me not to be there for them.

I cried when I read this. The way the world is it takes a great man to do the things that is so easy for a woman to do. It takes a great husband to stay at her side in her time of need and that is exactly what your son is doing. I remember how scared I was when they rushed my son of to the neonatal intensive care the moment he was born how scared I was during all my ultrasounds and non stress test and the doctors not knowing why or what would happen. I pray that all goes as well for your family as it did mine. Medical technology these days is terrific.

Thank you everyone. I have been talking to Jim at least 6 times everyday and sometimes more.

Just talked to Jim a minute ago and he is still down in the dumps. Jess wanted a cheese burger from a certain restaurant and he ran out to get it for her. He was gone about 45 minutes and while he was gone, her contractions started coming faster. They raised the magnesium sulfate again, which is a muscle relaxer - so she is pretty much out of it again.

When she woke up this morning, she was having trouble breathing because the magnesium sulfate was having an effect on her lungs. That is when they lowered the dosage and she immediately started having harder, faster contractions. She cant be on this indefinitely, so we are still playing the minute to minute waiting game.

There is some good news for me, tho. Jim spoke with Jess's Dr and was told I could visit with her for a few minutes tomorrow.

Rita - I am still thinking of you all and praying. I am sorry that things don't seem to be getting better. I can only imagine how you are climbing the walls with not being able to be there. I am sure you can't wail till tomorrow. When is the 48 hour steroid for the lung period over?

HUGS to you all.

The 48 hour steroid meds was over at noon today. Thank God we made it thru that without the babies being born.

They really want her to go 2 more weeks but the way things are going, that may not happen. Hopefully, Ill learn more tomorrow

I hope it is a wonderful visit! Miracles happen every day. I had meningitis before I turned 2, would not respond to anything. My grandmother said I was just sleeping that hard, mom said no something's wrong and rushed me to the hospital. The doctors said 30 minutes more and I probably wouldn't have made it at all. There was no medicine for viral meningitis at the time, and they put me in a test study group. Mom kept ordering the priest out of the room that wanted to give me last rites. Mom is convinced that I got the new drug they were testing, because I am here today, with the full use of all my limbs, not blind, deaf, not mentally retarded. It can happen. I'm still pulling for all of you!

I had a nice visit with Jim and Jess today. Was there about 2 hours. She is pretty out of it most of the time due to the high dosage of magnesium sulfate. Even tho they said she could only stay on it for 3 days, they have put her back on the full dosage. They tried to lower it, but she went right into contractions.

She is eating well and getting lots of rest. So far so good with the babies, but they do expect Harry to have more problems after birth than Rosie will.

Jim and I went back to their house and I got the horse dog. It was nice to talk to him alone and we had a nice little visit. I feel really bad for him right now as he has to take care of everything. At least he doesnt have to worry about the dogs (my ex is taking the smaller dog) anymore. He was so upset this afternoon. They also have 2 cats and he went upstairs to check on them - and they had no food and very little water. He hasnt been home since Friday - so he didnt know how long they had been without. We cleaned the litter box and got them an extra set of bowls filled with food and water. Poor Jess would be sooooo upset if she knew my ex and his wife didnt feed them as they were supposed to do. They arent animal people....

Anyway - we are still taking it minute by minute...

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Poor Jess! That sounds pretty miserable. I went on Terbutelene (sp) with both of my pregancies to stop premature labor and I was so thankful that I didn't have to go on the Magnesium sulfate.

I am happy to hear that you got a nice visit in with both of them and then with your son. I am sure it did you both good!

Do they have anyone else that can feed the cats for them? I don't know where they live but I wish I could do it for them. He doesn't need that to worry about as well!

edited to fix typo!

I spoke to Jim a few minutes ago and he said the Dr came in after I left and they lowered the dosage of the magnesium sulfate as they are afraid it will affect her health. They are only supposed to be on it for 3 days and she has been on it for 5. As soon as they lowered her dosage - her contractions were coming about 6 minutes apart. They are going to lower it again tomorrow morning so we may be having babies tomorrow...

She was having contractions the whole time I was there but they were about 15 minutes a part. Like I said above they are now 6 minutes apart.

If they decide the babies need to be delivered, there will be no way anyone else will be there. She is having a c-section and they will take her right away. And we wont be able to see the babies for a few days, either.

This isnt the way we all thought it would be, but whatever it takes to get them here safe and sound is what we will do.

Again - we are taking things minute by minute....

More updates tomorrow.
